Patent number: 8444159Abstract: In a method of producing a stabilizer for installation in a bearing unit of a motor vehicle, each end portion of a strip-shaped metal element is provided with a closing contour. The metal element is shaped to assume an undulating configuration having a wave portion. After being placed in a tool, a stabilizer bar is pressed against a circumference of the wave portion of the undulating metal element and the wave portion is formed onto the stabilizer bar such that the wave portion has at least one section which is ironed and the ironed section is urged into forced contact with the stabilizer bar. The metal element is then bent to embrace the stabilizer bar, and the end portions of the metal element are connected by engaging the closing contours of the end portions with a defined incline to thereby form a closed limiter ring fixed to the stabilizer bar.Type: GrantFiled: September 8, 2011Date of Patent: May 21, 2013Assignee: Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbHInventors: Armin Zuber, Ullrich Hammelmaier, Sebastian Saggel

Publication number: 20120211959Abstract: A stabilizer for installation onto a motor vehicle axle includes a stabilizer back and two legs which are connected to the stabilizer back to form a U-shaped, or C-shaped, or other suitably shaped structure. The stabilizer back is made of a composite material such as fiber composite, e.g. of glass fibers, carbon fibers, basaltic fibers, and metallic fibers.Type: ApplicationFiled: August 22, 2011Publication date: August 23, 2012Applicant: Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbHInventors: Ullrich Hammelmaier, Rodscha Drabon, Christian Howe, Sebastian Saggel, Johannes Böke

Patent number: 8226090Abstract: A device for active wheel alignment of wheels arranged on a wheel axle of a motor vehicle includes two hydraulic body dampers arranged between a vehicle body and the wheel axle. Each body damper is configured as a differential cylinder having a cylinder and a dividing piston which is guided in the cylinder. A throttle is arranged outside the cylinder of the body damper. Operably connected with the body dampers via hydraulic lines is a hydraulic servo unit, wherein hydraulic fluid is transferable via the throttle from one side of the dividing piston to the servo unit and from the servo unit via a returning one of the hydraulic lines back to another side of the dividing piston.Type: GrantFiled: August 17, 2010Date of Patent: July 24, 2012Assignee: Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbHInventors: Ullrich Hammelmaier, Felix Wulf, Christian Voy, Rodscha Drabon, David Wagner

Publication number: 20120068429Abstract: In a method of making a stabilizer, a rubber molding is vulcanized onto an inner side of an outer shell to produce a rubber bearing. After coating a stabilizer bar, the rubber bearing is vulcanized onto the stabilizer bar in a joining zone while maintaining the rubber bearing under a defined tension using a biasing tool. After vulcanization and removal of the biasing tool, a bearing bracket is connected in surrounding relationship to the rubber bearing while maintaining the rubber bearing under a defined tension.Type: ApplicationFiled: June 6, 2011Publication date: March 22, 2012Applicant: Benteler Automobiltechnik GmbHInventors: WULF HÄRTEL, Ullrich Hammelmaier, Peter Koczar

Patent number: 7699322Abstract: A stabilizer arrangement for a motor vehicle has a stabilizer (1), which is connected to the vehicle chassis and which is connected to a spring-mounted wheel carrier part on each side of the vehicle by a piston-cylinder unit (4; 4?) each. Each of the piston-cylinder units (4, 4?) is formed of at least one piston (8, 8?) arranged movably in a cylinder (7, 7?), and each is connected in an articulated manner, at one end, to one end of the stabilizer (1) and, at the other end, to a spring-mounted wheel carrier part. The piston-cylinder units (4, 4?) are connected to a hydraulic pump (20). A stop (13, 13?), against which the respective piston (8, 8?) can be moved, is assigned to each of the cylinders (7, 7?). By an arrangement of valves, it is made possible for the pistons (8, 8?) to move out of each position in a purposeful manner against the stop (13, 13?) and to hold there in a defined position in order to restore the stabilizer action in a purposeful manner and effectively from any position of the vehicle.Type: GrantFiled: May 20, 2005Date of Patent: April 20, 2010Assignee: ZF Friedrichshafen AGInventors: Ullrich Hammelmaier, Metin Ersoy, Felix Haeusler, Oliver Westphal
