  • Patent number: 10421522
Abstract: The invention relates to a cover device for at least sectional closing of an underwater opening in a hull of a watercraft, in particular an opening of a transverse channel of a thruster. According to the invention the cover device includes at least one variable-volume hollow chamber lip including at least one buoyancy body, and the at least one hollow chamber lip is shiftable into an expansion state or into a shrinkage state by supplying or removing a fluid, in particular air. As a result of the variable-volume or inflatable cover device a more reliable and simultaneously lower-maintenance operation of the cover device is given. In addition, the invention has a thruster, in particular a bow or stern-thruster, as subject matter.

  • Patent number: 10220923
Abstract: A fin stabilizer for stabilizing watercraft includes a pivotable stabilizer fin and a receiving space for receiving the stabilizer fin. The stabilizer fin is shiftable from a retracted state in which the stabilizer fin is received in the receiving space to an extended state in which the stabilizer fin extends from the receiving space. Also at least one flexible cover element for at least partially covering an opening of the receiving space, through which opening the stabilizer fin enters and exits the receiving space during retracting and extending, respectively. The stabilizer fin does not contact the at least one cover element when shifting from the retracted state to the extended state.

  • Patent number: 8763679
Abstract: A casting roll for a two-roll casting device for the casting of metallic strip from a metal melt, in particular a steel melt, includes a roll body, on a casing surface of which a coating consisting of a coating material is applied by thermal spraying, which has a higher degree of hardness than the roll body. The casting roll according to the invention and the two-roll casting device, while easy to manufacture, has not only a long service life, but also allows for the manufacture of cast strips of optimum quality. This is achieved by the fact that the free surface of the coating, after thermal spraying, has a peak number RPc of at least 10 cm?1.

  • Publication number: 20070181284
Abstract: A method for the production of cast steel strip in a continuous procedure includes casting a steel melt into a casting gap having longitudinal sides of which are formed by walls that move during the casting process, to form the steel strip, and holding the steel melt, which is present above the casting gap in a melt pool, under an atmosphere containing nitrogen and hydrogen. This method allows the production of high-quality steel strips having a significantly improved surface composition compared to the prior art in that the hydrogen content of the atmosphere is greater than 0 mol % to 10 mol %, and the Cr, Mo, Nb, Si, Ti, Ni, Mn, C or N contents of the cast steel melt, which are selectively present in each case for adjusting the characteristics of the steel strip, are in each case selected so that a ratio Creq/Nieq?1.7.

  • Patent number: 6524408
Abstract: To produce sheet steel components optimised for loading, a steel strip is cast between two cooled rolls with a variable nip and the thickness of the steel strip is changed by changing the time of contact between the strand shells and the rolls or by changing the cooling intensity of the rolls on the molten steel cast into the gusset formed by the rolls, thereby changing the thickness of the steel strip. Such a strip has a homogeneous structure and can subsequently be given a special quality by hot or cold rolling for its particular purpose of use.
