  • Publication number: 20110198886
Abstract: A fastback for a passenger car is provided with a roof profile and a floor profile in the tail region. The roof profile initially descends from a highest profile point and the floor profile initially ascends from a lowest profile point in a rear axle region. The tail region forms an aerodynamic diffusor having a floor diffusor and roof diffusor. For this purpose, the roof profile features an S-shaped upward curvature toward an upper tail break-away edge and the floor profile features an S-shaped downward curvature toward a lower tail break-away edge. Due to the roof profile and the floor profile, the tail region of the passenger car has a shape with a fish-like profile.

  • Patent number: 6841255
Abstract: The present invention includes a co-polymer film which can be applied over a surface of an article to form a continuous surface that is more biocompatible and has a smoother surface morphology than an untreated article. In general the co-polymer film of the invention can be formed by providing a hydrophobic polymer block, such as polydimethylsiloxane (PDMS) with functional —OH end groups and reacting the —OH ends with a conventional monomer or prepolymer of a film-forming polymer capable of reacting with —OH groups. Such reactions are exemplified, using as reactive PDMS a triblock copolymer of the polylactone-polysiloxane-polylactone (PL-PDMS-PL) type, or silicone polyesters. The —OH groups of the polylactone blocks can react with any of a variety of isocyanates in a suitable solvent to form a polymer having PDMS incorporated with its structure.

  • Patent number: 6139491
Abstract: A fibre-optic laryngoscope spatula (1) having a light-exiting first end and an opposite second end and comprising a base part (1) and an exchangeable light-guide part (8) having a first spring-loaded coupling member (14). The base part (1) and the light-guide part (8) are designed to fit precisely together in such a way that the light-guide part (1) can be pushed into the base part (1) from the second end as far as an end position and can be pushed out of the base part (1) from the end position in the opposite direction. When in the end position, the light-guide part (8) and the base part (1) are connected to one another by means of a snap connection and have interengaging surface parts which do not allow relative movement between the base part and light-guide part in any other than the push-out direction. Furthermore, when in the end position, at least one snap connection force has to be overcome in order to allow relative movement between the base part (1) and light-guide part (8) in the push-out direction.

  • Patent number: 5435577
Abstract: A hydraulic clamping device for axially clamping pieces of radial symmetry has a base body with a longitudinal axis slipped onto a receiving mandrel. An annular piston is floatingly arranged in the base body. A closed circuit hydraulic system for displacing the annular piston relative to the base body toward a piece of radial symmetry to be clamped on the receiving mandrel is provided for securely clamping the piece of radial symmetry on the receiving mandrel. A plurality of compensation wedges arranged at the annular piston have wedge surfaces extending symmetrically to the longitudinal axis of the base body. Adjusting screws that are radially displaceable relative to the longitudinal center axis of the base body are provided for displacing the compensation wedges axially in order to secure the compensation wedges in a clamping position.

  • Patent number: 5228180
Abstract: A withdrawing device for withdrawing a roller bearing from an arbor is comprised of a hollow body having a withdrawal sleeve and a spindle that axially penetrates the hollow body. The withdrawal sleeve has axially extending slots defining therebetween tongues with ends that widen radially outwardly in a cone shape with a conical outer mantle surface. The free ends constitute withdrawal elements. A clamping sleeve is axially slidably and rotatably connected to the hollow body. At one end thereof the clamping sleeve has a conical inner mantle surface mating with the conical outer mantle surface of the free ends. The clamping sleeve is comprised of a pressure sleeve and an adjusting sleeve, whereby the pressure sleeve comprises the conical inner mantle surface and the adjusting sleeve is rotatably connected to the hollow body and rotatably and axially fixedly connected to the pressure springs.

  • Patent number: 5125776
Abstract: A hydraulic clamping device for the axial clamping of bodies of rotation, especially tools, onto a revolving mandrel is provided. It has a base body fixed to a mandrel and a rotary piston which is suspended in a floating manner inside the base body and is axially slidable relative to the base body via a closed-circuit hydraulic system and setscrews. The tool is tightly clamped in an axial direction. In order to improve the axial rigidity of the hydraulic clamping device, to provide a fast and directed adjustment of the concentricity during the clamping of the tool inside the device and to provide a radial freedom of play during operation, a sleeve fastened to the mandrel is provided to which the base body is attached. The sleeve is equipped with an elastic flange, a first face of which is engaged by the rotary piston and a second face of which is abuttable against said tool.
