  • Patent number: 6773243
Abstract: Rotary piston machine for compressible media, with rotary pistons sealed tight in a common housing and rotatable with one another in a controlled manner, the rotary pistons having a plurality of disk-shaped sections engaging in one another in pairs, whose thickness and/or diameter decreases in the direction of the pressure side, each disk having a surface area and a core area connected respectively by an interface area, the sector angles of the surface area and of the core area of a respective disk not being identical, the disks having various transverse profile contours periodically recurring along the piston axes and each disk being offset at an angle to the two adjacent disks of the same rotor in a such a way that these three disks have a common area section and form a chamber.

  • Patent number: 6447276
Abstract: Displacement machines for compressible media having single-threaded, twin screw rotors with continuously decreasing pitch to achieve an inner compression are known. The demand for compact pumps with rotors as short as possible, and the frequent, process-related demand for quick disassembly of the housing, set limits however for the wrapping angle or respectively for the variation of the end profiles, which, in turn, leads to extreme pitch ratios or to insufficient compression rates. The present invention uses screw rotors with an optimized, non-monotone pitch course and alternative end profile variation with constant diameters. Suction capability is improved with the same space requirement, and compression rates of 3.0 and more are achieved easily with only four wraps. Displacement machines equipped with such twin screw rotors provide optimal results with respect to energy requirement, temperature, construction space and servicing with application possibilities in chemistry and in semiconductor technology.

  • Patent number: 6354823
Abstract: The displacement machine is intended in particular for use as a pump, and has a working area, formed in a housing, which working area is limited by two end walls and a casing, and is accessible via an inlet and an outlet for a working medium. At least one rotor, movably disposed in the housing, subdivides the working area, and a guide gearing for rotor control is connected to a drive apparatus located outside the working area. The invention has as its object to propose a displacement machine which can be manufactured less expensively and with less weight than known displacement machines of this type, and in particular can be operated without any special lubricant for the bearings.

  • Patent number: 6158996
Abstract: Known designs of single-thread screw rotors in single-piece cast iron constructions having wrap angles of >720 degrees with balancing cavities on the face of the screw operate with no unbalance at average rotary frequencies of (.about.3000 min.sup.-1). The use of a pump in processes having sensitive purity and maintenance requirements or working with corrosive substances or where limited space is available and quality is demanded, brings about problems for rotor designing and balancing, which the present invention solves. An uneven mass distribution is accomplished by constructing the rotors with several single parts inside the rotor, by forming cavities and/or by choosing the adequate material, which, combined with the screw length/pitch ratio, cause a static and dynamic balancing. Screw rotors designed as described offer several advantages since they are easy to assemble and have a compact and stable construction.

  • Patent number: 6139297
Abstract: In prior art designs, single-flight cast double worms with angles of contact >720.degree. with large balance hollows at both ends and worm lengths of whole multiples of the pitch operate in the medium rotation speed ranges (.about.3000 min.sup..about.1) without imbalance. The desired use of special uncastable materials and the manufacturing complexity and the necessary dimensional stability even for extreme profile geometries pose additional problems in balancing which are solved by the present invention. Here, it is possible, by varying the angle of contact of the worm and any balance hollows and/or by altering the contour of the worms in the medium engagement region, to reduce the size of the balance hollows, sometimes to "zero", and with the possible use of additional masses. Besides the advantage of simple raw component manufacture, worms balanced in this way also permit the use of special materials and extreme worm geometries for fitting in pumps used in the chemical, medical and food sectors.

  • Patent number: 6129535
Abstract: In known embodiments, media are fed in a contact-free manner in propeller pumps by single-thread twin feed screws which are guided via pilot gears, the twin feed screws having the same transverse profile with a core circle, tip circle, an involute flank and a hollow flank, enabling the pump chamber to be divided into axially staggered cells and this obtain high pressure differences in one stage. In addition to dynamics, efficiency and production, the control of the medium is also determined by the contour of the end profile, the variation of which improves all the dependent variables. According to the invention, the involute is replaced by a curve which does not rise constantly and has a central saddle region and a smooth connection to the core circle. The variations in the end face achieved thereby improve the dynamics and volumetric efficiency and extend the possibilities for controlling medium at the end face.
