  • Patent number: 6610763
Abstract: A process for preparing a container for handling a household waste material which involves molding a household waste container from a plastic batch material containing 0.1 to 10% by weight of at least one phenol biocide selected from the group consisting of 5,5′-dichloro-2,2′-dihydroxydiphenyl methane, 3,5,3′,5′-tetrachloro-4,4′-dihydroxydiphenyl methane, 3,5,6,3′,5′,6′-hexachloro-2,2′-dihydroxydiphenyl methane, 5,5′-dichloro-2,2′-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide, 2,4,5,2′,4′,5′-hexachloro-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide, 3,5,3′,5′-tetrachloro-2,2′-dihydroxydiphenyl sulfide, and 2,4,4′-trichloro-2′-hydroxydiphenyl ether to form the container with an inner and an outer co-extruded layer wherein the phenol is applied on a co-extruded layer forming the surface of the inner co-extruded layer.

  • Patent number: 5183180
Abstract: The invention provides commercial-size refuse containers preferably formed from a thermoplastic polymer. In front loading versions, the container includes metal lifting sleeves fastened horizontally on the exterior of each side wall and there is a portion of each side wall above the lifting sleeve which extends outwardly beyond at least part of the lifting sleeve and supports the lifting sleeve during lifting of the container. One of more vertically oriented channels are provided in the container side wall behind the lifting sleeve to provide integrally formed, vertical reinforcing ribs in the container side wall. The portion of the upper side wall extending outwardly above the lifting sleeve and the integral vertical ribs behind the lifting sleeve cooperate to distribute shear forces applied to the side wall during lifting of the container so that the container can be repeatedly lifted by the lifting sleeves without damage to the side wall.

  • Patent number: 5088750
Abstract: The invention is directed to improved waste containers of the type that is supported on wheels and adapted to be rolled by the consumer. The multi-functional waste container of the invention can be lifted and emptied by various fully and semi-automated apparatus. The waste container of the invention is both strong and durable. Included is an improved lifting surface for automatic lifting of the container; an improved shape and a durable foot access means to assist in rearward tilting of the container by the consumer; and an improved lid and handle construction which improves lid durability and can reduce container body material requirements. The body of the waste container can be injection molded as a single, integral piece with no modifications required for wheel attachment, for lid attachment or for lifting pocket or lifting bar attachment.

  • Patent number: 4877150
Abstract: The disposable container comprising a lid can be firstly provisionally and secondly finally sealed by means of two different fasteners or closure means, and the final closure means cannot be opened again without destruction of said means. The provisional closure means (14) suitable for repeated use in formed such that on closure a sealing is provided by compression of a seal provided on the container outer side between the container border and the lid and consisting of a sealing ring and an encircling counter face (11).
