  • Patent number: 7377519
Abstract: A shielding component, in particular a heat shield, includes shield components (10, 12, 14) made flat, lying at least partially on top of one another, and connected to one another at least partially along at least one common connecting line (16). Since the shield components (10, 12) at least partially form a gasket (30) by at least one shield component (10) having a projection relative to its remaining superficial extent, a further function in the form of a sealing function is implemented in a heat shield for acoustic and heat insulation.
    Type: Grant

Along the common connecting line (16), at least one shield component (14) encompassing another shield component (10, 12) in an overlap (18). Within the overlap (18), the shield components (10, 12, 14) are held at least partially by frictional engagement so as to be displaceable against one another relative to a compensation distance. A rigid connection of the shield components with their individual layers is avoided. Rather, depending on the thermal situation, they can mutually slide off one another.

  • Patent number: 6974137
Abstract: Flat gasket with a gasket plate comprising at least one sheet metal layer, in which fluid passage openings, screw holes adjacent to these and elastically deformable sealing elements enclosing the fluid passage openings are formed. On the one hand, to impede as little as possible sliding movements of the components to be arranged on either side of the flat gasket relative to one another and to the flat gasket, and, on the other hand, to create a fixed point for the assembled flat gasket, the flat gasket is designed such that the gasket plate has for at least a first one of its fluid passage openings in the area of a screw hole adjacent to this opening a spring element which is capable of elastic deformation perpendicularly to the gasket plate, and that the gasket plate has for at least a second one of its fluid passage openings adjacent thereto a screw hole which is without a spring element.

  • Patent number: 4676514
Abstract: A combined intake-exhaust gasket for internal combustion engines comprising a gasket plate which has at least one metallic intermediate layer arranged between two outer metallic layers and in which at least one exhaust-outlet opening and one intake opening adjacent thereto are provided, each of which is limited by a sealing element. In order to seal the intake opening by means of an elastomeric sealing ring but also protect this ring from the high exhaust temperatures and mechanical wear and tear, the sealing element of the intake opening has a sealing ring which is made of elastomeric material and limits this opening as well as a web-like metallic support member which is secured to the sealing ring, projects outwardly therefrom in radial direction and is inserted loosely between the outer layers of the gasket plate.
