  • Patent number: 5076821
Abstract: A filter arrangement in the intake airflow of a heating or air-conditioning system of a motor vehicle, comprising two filters (preferably activated carbon filters), arranged offset and at a distance on behind the other relative to the direction of air flow, through each of which a partial volume of the air to be filtered flows. An air-guiding device is arranged upstream of the filters which feeds air proportionately to the two filters to produce a uniform supply. A wall capable of preventing flow round the rear filter, is provided between the two filters.

  • Patent number: 5062353
Abstract: In heating or air conditioning equipment for the passenger compartment of a motor vehicle, the equipment being connected to the bulkhead on the passenger compartment side and covered by a dashboard provided with a glove compartment and having an air filter located on the air inlet side, it is proposed that, for easy insertion and removal of the air filter, the latter should be aligned at least approximately horizontally and located adjacent to the glove compartment insert. After the insert or a partial region of it has been removed or pivoted away, the air filter can be inserted and removed through the glove compartment opening.

  • Patent number: 4941704
Abstract: The invention relates to a sun visor for vehicles, having a sun visor body which can bend along its longitudinal extension and can be pivoted out of a rest position into a multiple number of use positions, and which can be held in these positions. In order to ensure that the sun visor body automatically bends in the course of the pivoting process on a bent shaft, the sun visor body is pivotably mounted on a curved through shaft. Between the rotatably mounted end regions of the curved shaft it is guided so as to be rotatable and slideable in the direction of a transverse extension of the sun visor body through an intermediate bearing engaging in bifurcated fashion around an associated longitudinal portion of the curved shaft. The sun visor body is guided so as to be longitudinally displaceable on the curved shaft to allow for correct positioning when the visor body and curved shaft are pivoted to be in front of a side window of a vehicle.

  • Patent number: 4899612
Abstract: A cover sleeve for the protective covering of a clearance for the passage of a steering column of a motor vehicle through a dashboard is disclosed. To accommodate adjustment of the steering column as to its inclination and length, the cover sleeve is fastened by one end to the dashboard and by the other end to a steering column casing. The cover sleeve is braced between its fastening ends by a displaceable frame which is mounted on the casing and is acted upon in its direction of displacement by a resilient tensioning element.

  • Patent number: 4896520
Abstract: The invention relates to a lockable glove and auxiliary compartment cover system for motor cars having a lock which is transferable into its tripping position by the stressing of a tripping lever by means of an actuating element. A closing member is provided which can be rotated between positions permitting and blocking the operative connection between the actuating element and the lock to change the security condition of the system. The change of the security condition occurs by means of a toothed-wheel gear which comprises a spur gear element rotatable with the closing element and a further gear element meshing with the spur gear element.

  • Patent number: 4848509
Abstract: A central locking system for motor vehicles, not only doors and tailgate and gas tank-cap lids, but also several flaps of containers arranged in the passenger space (gloveboxes, small luggage compartments). These locks can be released and locked jointly by a unitary switch signal, or for specific conditions, both the doors and lids and the flaps can respectively be locked and released separately in groups.

  • Patent number: 4786098
Abstract: For obtaining a damped movement into the opened position in a glove compartment lid in a motor vehicle, a piston-cylinder unit constructed as brake is provided whose piston rod is operatively connected with a retaining member pivotally connected at the glove compartment lid. The air compressed during the opening operation by the piston leaves through a calibrated opening into the free atmosphere.

  • Patent number: 4635415
Abstract: A glass pane adhesively fastened in the frame of an automobile body by means of an elastomeric polymerized adhesive, which is provided on its surface within the adhesive area with a conductor strip provided with electrical connections that on its side facing the adhesive carries a separating layer of a thermally meltable or fusible material such as soft solder or thermoplastic. For purposes of disassembly of the pane, a current is caused to flow through the conductor strip so that the conductor strip heats up, the separating layer melts and the pane can be disassembled without difficulties.

  • Patent number: 4474395
Abstract: A bumper for a motor vehicle, with the bumper being equipped with an energy absorber provided along a rear surface thereof with at least one recess. The energy absorber is disposed forwardly of a girder subjected to bending, with the girder being attached to a vehicle. The recesses are arranged in such a manner that an impact force is transmitted to the body of the motor vehicle with as little moment as possible so as to prevent a tilting of the bumper and associated motor vehicle parts such as a fender of the vehicle. With a bumper girder subjected to bending being mounted forwardly of the energy absorber, at least portions of the recesses diagonally face the area of incidence of the impact force. If the impact is directly incident on the energy absorber, the recesses lie in an extension of a direction of the point of application of the impact forces.

  • Patent number: 4470717
Abstract: A web seam for sheet metal parts and a process for producing the same wherein the web seam is provided with a triple layer web projecting from a surface of the sheet metal parts, the layers are formed from a first flange of one sheet metal part and a second flange of the other sheet metal part. The first flange and a portion of the second flange immediately adjoining the other sheet metal part are separately connected by spot welds or by cementing in an intermediate step. The projecting edge of the second flange is then folded over in a U-shape and extends over the first flange. Additional weld spots or cement are applied to the web seam, which weld spots or cement simultaneously cover all three layers. A bight portion joining the first leg and a second leg of the U-shaped flange has a bending diameter which is larger than a single thickness of the sheet metal and, preferably, is twice the sheet metal thickness.

  • Patent number: 4451077
Abstract: A flat structural part for a motor vehicle body with the flat structural part forming, for example, a hood, a cover, or a door of the motor vehicle and being reinforced by pipes along a side of the edges, with the pipes being arranged at a distance from an outer covering of the structural part that may partially reach around the pipes either from above or below or from above and below, with the retaining pipes being connected with an edge area of the outer covering. The outer covering and retaining clips enclose an approximately wedge-shaped space that tapers off in a direction of the edge, with a space between the pipe and outer covering having a size that permits a free passage of a spray jet aimed thereat.

  • Patent number: 4421351
Abstract: A bumper arrangement which includes a support having an impact body or piece that is directly or indirectly arranged at a shock absorber mounting for a bumper of a motor vehicle. The impact piece is embedded or surrounded by an elastic bearing pad, with the bearing pad being surrounded by a housing connected with the bumper of the motor vehicle. The housing includes an opening for enabling a passage of a portion of the shock absorber mounting so as to permit a relative movement between the shock absorber and the housing. The impact body or piece includes areas of contact that are disposed opposite each other with one of the areas of contact facing the bumper and the other area of contact facing the shock absorber mounting. The areas of contact are fashioned so as to be convex or bowed outwardly.
