Publication number: 20240090375Abstract: A combine harvester is disclosed, including a separating device for separating grain and straw and a shredding device downstream from the separating device for shredding a straw portion discharged from the separating device. The shredding device comprises a chopping rotor which is rotationally driven about an axis oriented transversely to an infeed direction of the portion of straw into the shredding device, and the rotary movement of which generates an air flow directed away from the chopping rotor. The rotary movement is opposite the infeed direction on a part of the circumference of the chopping rotor. Further, the infeed direction of the straw portion into the shredding device is regulated by at least one structure, such as an adjustable crop guide plate, in such a way that the air flow does not counteract the infeed of the straw portion into the shredding device.Type: ApplicationFiled: September 19, 2023Publication date: March 21, 2024Applicant: CLAAS Selbstfahrende Erntemaschinen GmbHInventors: Ulrich Claes, Manuel Elpmann

Patent number: 9089090Abstract: A combine harvester includes a grain tank with an upper opening and a foldable attachment disposed on the upper opening. The attachment has two opposing, one-piece, flat attachment parts and two opposing, multiple-component, flat attachment parts. The attachment parts are swivellably disposed on the upper edge of the upper opening of the grain tank, are swivellably connected to one another and, in lying-flat, closed positions, form a cover. The cover at least partially closes the opening. In erected filling positions, the attachment parts increase the volume of the grain tank.Type: GrantFiled: May 1, 2013Date of Patent: July 28, 2015Assignee: CLAAS Selbstfahrende Erntemashinen GmbHInventors: Ulrich Claes, Thomas Roewekamp, Egbert Scholz, Georg Paulessen

Patent number: 6468154Abstract: A device for adjusting the opening width of vibrating sieves in a cleaning mechanism of combine harvesters is arranged on and vibrates directly with the sieves or the sieve frame. The device includes an electric-motor-driven adjusting mechanism which actuates in a direction along an axis which differs from the direction in which the sieve is vibrating. A detector is activated when a particular sieve opening width is achieved. When the detector is activated, the particular opening width is associated with a position of the adjusting mechanism as measured by a position sensor, thereby allowing calibration of further adjustments to the sieve opening.Type: GrantFiled: July 7, 2000Date of Patent: October 22, 2002Assignee: CLAAS Selbstfahrende Erntemaschinen GmbHInventors: Georg Eggenhaus, Eckehard Jeppe, Dieter Strickmann, Ulrich Claes

Patent number: 6082647Abstract: A combine harvester has a mounted chopper with a wide-distributor discharge, designed such that the need for impeller blowers for distributing the chopped material across the entire cutting width of the combine harvester is eliminated. In the mounted chopper according to the invention, the latter consists of the two chopper units whose shafts carrying the chopper blades are at an obtuse angle to each other and cooperate with corresponding counterblades. Each chopper unit is equipped with an input funnel so that the straw is chopped completely. To distribute the chopped material, each chopper unit is equipped with an ejection fitting, increasing in cross-section towards the rear end.The mounted chopper is particularly suitable for combine harvesters with a wide cutting width.Type: GrantFiled: November 19, 1998Date of Patent: July 4, 2000Assignee: Claas Selbstfahrende Erntemaschinen GmbHInventor: Ulrich Claes
