Patent number: 10147918Abstract: A novel retarding mechanism is shown to reduce the inertia of the battery shell during a linear detachment movement from a handle of an appliance, such as a battery powered razor or shaver. The retarding mechanism is based on the interaction between the battery shell found on a lower portion of a razor handle and a battery carrier found within the upper portion of a razor handle. Specifically, an engagement spring having at least one knob type structure is mounted on an interior surface of the battery shell and axially engages protrusions and/or recesses on an exterior surface of the battery carrier during a detachment movement of the battery shell. During opening or detachment of the shell, the engagement of the knob with protrusions produces a retarding force effect of the shell during the linear detachment.Type: GrantFiled: March 25, 2014Date of Patent: December 4, 2018Assignee: The Gillette Company LLCInventors: Cirilo Javier Perez Lopez, Ulrich Fandrey, Michaela Mueller, Andreas Erndt, Sebastian Hottenrott, Philipp Berger

Publication number: 20110214289Abstract: A combination powered grooming device comprising a handle and a grooming attachment. The handle has a longitudinal axis extending between an upper end and a lower end. The handle comprises a trimmer assembly disposed adjacent the upper end and the trimmer assembly includes at least one moving blade. The handle further comprises an electrical arrangement disposed therein. The electrical arrangement comprises a motor having a drive shaft and a drive mechanism coupled to the drive shaft and to the trimmer assembly. In a trimming mode, the drive mechanism translates movement of the drive shaft to the moving blade. The grooming attachment is adapted for mounting onto the upper end.Type: ApplicationFiled: April 4, 2011Publication date: September 8, 2011Inventors: Michael Maichel, Markus Schuessler, Ralf Klug, Cirilo Javier Perez Lopez, Terence Gordon Royle, Andreas Larscheid, Stefan Rehbein, Ulrich Fandrey, Juergen Behrendt, Gerrit Roenneberg
