  • Patent number: 6323357
Abstract: A process for the direct synthesis of organochlorosilanes using CuCl prepared from the copper-containing residues from the direct synthesis of organochlorosilanes, where, in the preparation of the CuCl, in a first step, copper from an aqueous suspension of the copper-containing residues is oxidized to CuCl2 using mineral acid and oxidant, where mineral acid or oxidant or mineral acid and oxidant contain chlorine, giving an aqueous CuCl2 solution, and in a second step, the aqueous CuCl2 solution is reduced to CuCl using elemental iron.

  • Patent number: 5502230
Abstract: In the process of the present invention, disilanes are reacted with hydrogen chloride in the presence of a catalyst comprising(A) palladium(O) or platinum(O), and(B) an organic compound selected from among tertiary amines, carboxamides, alkylureas, tertiary phosphines, phosphoramides, quaternary ammonium halides, quaternary phosphonium halides or mixtures thereof to give hydrogen-containing methylchlorosilanes.

  • Patent number: 4377672
Abstract: The subject of the invention is a microsuspension polymerization in water of vinyl chloride, which is carried out in the presence of monomer-soluble radical-initiators and emulsifiers. According to the invention, from about 0.01 to 0.5% by weight, based on the weight of the water, of polymers containing mono-basic or dibasic carboxylic acid units and/or salts thereof are added. Furthermore, in a preferred embodiment, emulsifiers containing perfluorinated alkyl groups are also used. Stabilization of the microsuspension latex, which is per se sensitive to shearing action, and reduction in the amount of emulsifiers used are achieved.
