Patent number: 7628759Abstract: The invention relates to a blood pressure manometer comprising a housing, a cuff connected to the housing, a cuff storage element in which a section of the cuff can be retracted to adjust the width of the cuff, and a cuff tightener which pulls the cuff section into the cuff storage element with a pre-determined tractive force. The cuff tightener comprises a pre-tensioned spring drive and a detachable withdrawal blocking element which prevents the cuff from withdrawing counter to the spring drive. The spring drive causes the cuff to automatically tighten with a pre-determined force, ensuring reproducible measuring results. The cuff storage element and the cuff tightener can be integrated into or engaged in a locking manner with the housing. An automatic switch-on mechanism switches the appliance on as soon as the cuff storage element is locked to the housing when the cuff is positioned on the limb.Type: GrantFiled: November 30, 2004Date of Patent: December 8, 2009Assignee: Kaz USA, Inc.Inventors: Dirk Freund, Brigitte Harttmann, Ulrich Heck, Stefan Hollinger, Gerrit Ronneberg, Fred Schnak, Martin Simeth, Dieter Wunder, Siegfried Zellermayer

Publication number: 20090275845Abstract: A method and a device for the non-invasive determination of blood flow and associated parameters in arteries, in particular the arterial waveform and the blood pressure. According to said method, a sensor having at least one deformable contact portion is placed on a tissue surface, essentially over an artery, and the contact portion is subjected to a temporally variable and defined external force, F(t). The deformation of the contact portion by the blood flow inside the artery in response to said force F(t) is measured.Type: ApplicationFiled: December 15, 2005Publication date: November 5, 2009Applicant: KAZ USA, INC.Inventors: Dirk Freund, Martin Giersiepen, Brigitte Harttmann, Ulrich Heck, Stefan Hollinger, Frank Kressmann, Gerrit Roenneberg, Fred Schnak, Dieter Wunder

Publication number: 20090216134Abstract: The invention relates to a sphygmomanometer for measuring blood pressure over a long period of time, especially over 24 hours, with a cuff which can be placed against an extremity of the body, a measuring device for determining blood pressure data, a control device for activating automatically the measuring device at specified time intervals, as well as a memory device for storing the blood pressure data determined in different measurements. Pursuant to the invention, the sphygmomanometer is novel owing to the fact that it is constructed as a portable instrument, for which the measuring device, a control device and the memory are part of the body of the device, which is fastened at the cuff.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2006Publication date: August 27, 2009Applicant: Kaz USA, Inc.Inventors: Stefan Hollinger, Dieter Wunder, Ulrich Heck, Dirk Freund, Brigitte Harttmann, Gerrit Roenneberg, Fred Schnak

Publication number: 20090198141Abstract: A data transmission unit for a blood pressure meter. The data transmission unit includes an external transmission interface for the transmission of data to external data processing equipment and/or from external data processing equipment. The unit also includes an internal connection interface operable to detachably connect the data transmission unit to the blood pressure meter. As such, the data transmission unit forms an exchangeable interface converter for the blood pressure meter that converts a first data and/or transmission format fitting of the blood pressure meter into a second data and/or transmission format fitting of the external data processing device.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 10, 2006Publication date: August 6, 2009Applicant: Kaz USA, IncInventors: Stefan Hollinger, Dieter Wunder, Ulrich Heck, Dirk Freund, Brigitte Harttmann, Gerrit Roenneberg, Fred Schnak

Publication number: 20090143687Abstract: A device and method for managing, archiving and/or evaluating blood pressure data of a plurality of patients. The blood pressure data is acquired using blood pressure monitors. The blood pressure data for each patient is separately stored in an individual storage space in a central data server. A network connection including at least one network terminal is used to input the data into the individual storage space and read out the data from the individual storage space. A control device controls access to the storage spaces by comparing a transmitted access code including a unique device identification code for the blood pressure monitor of the patient corresponding to the individual storage space with a unique access code corresponding to the individual storage space.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 24, 2008Publication date: June 4, 2009Applicant: Kaz USA, Inc.Inventors: Martin Giersiepen, Dieter Wunder, Ulrich Heck, Dirk Freund, Brigitte Harttmann, Stefan Hollinger, Gerrit Roenneberg, Fred Schnak, Frank Kressmann, Paul Wieneke

Publication number: 20090131808Abstract: A sphygmomanometer and a chip card for use therein. The sphygmomanometer includes a measuring device for determining blood pressure data and a control device. The control device has a chip card reader operable to read an insertable control chip card. The chip card includes data which is read by the chip card reader. A control function of the sphygmomanometer is carried out as a result of the data being read by the chip card reader.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 7, 2008Publication date: May 21, 2009Applicant: Kaz USA, Inc.Inventors: Martin Giersiepen, Dieter Wunder, Ulrich Heck, Dirk Freund, Brigitte Harttmann, Stefan Hollinger, Gerrit Roenneberg, Fred Schnak, Frank Kressmann

Patent number: 6843773Abstract: The invention is directed to a blood pressure monitoring device comprising a central parts mounting module and to a method of manufacturing this parts mounting module. According to the invention fluid channels are produced by gas injection into the interior of the parts mounting module, the walls bounding the fluid channels being completely formed by the material of the parts mounting module. The injection of gas continues for as long as a core of the parts mounting module is still in the liquid phase in the area of the fluid channel, whilst an outer area surrounding the core has already solidified, so that the pressure fluid expels the liquid core area, producing a tubular fluid channel.Type: GrantFiled: June 12, 2002Date of Patent: January 18, 2005Assignee: Braun GmbHInventors: Dirk Freund, Martin Giersiepen, Brigitte Harttmann, Ulrich Heck, Stefan Hollinger, Frank Kressmann, Gerrit Rönneberg, Fred Schnak, Christoph Rennefeld, Rainer Hans
