  • Patent number: 5406047
Abstract: The invention is directed to a plasma torch which projects into a container and is fastened at a supporting device and has a nozzle arranged at a burner lance, as well as a main electrode pipe with a main electrode arranged inside the burner lance, gaseous and liquid media as well as electric current being supplied to the main electrode via coaxially arranged pipes. An annular insulating member (21) is provided around the main electrode (10) in the region of its foot end and encloses the electrode (10) annularly, the casing (33) of the double-walled burner lance (30) which is held by the supporting device being fastened at this insulating member.

  • Patent number: 5292109
Abstract: A device for coupling a flexible current feed (50) to a bottom electrode of a metallurgical vessel (10) having a first electrical coupling (20), including a second electrical coupling (30) for operatively engaging the first coupling (20), being connected to the current feed (50), a carrier element (60) and a compensating element (40) between the carrier element (60) and the second electrical coupling (30), the compensating element (40) balancing a force of the flexible current feed (50) on the first electrical coupling. The compensating element (40) may include a damper (42) in parallel to a spring (41), so that a movement of the second electrical coupling (30) with respect to the carrier element (60) is damped.

  • Patent number: 4559990
Abstract: A continuous casting and rolling device of the type in which molten metal is introduced, by a nozzle, between a pair of liquid cooled rolls which are supported in a roll supporting structure and which each have a coolant connection and a drive which are disposed on different sides or ends of the roll supporting structure. Each roll is equipped with its own geared motor which is releasably fastened to the respective roll pin as a freely projecting drive unit.

  • Patent number: 4480679
Abstract: Chill molds for multiple continuous casting of wires and casting strands with small cross-sections from metal, in particular from copper and copper alloys, are provided with a row of mold hollow spaces with walls from graphite and the walls are cooled with a coolant circle. In order to have to replace upon wear out or operational disturbances only the parts involved and the exchange of the parts nevertheless to remain simple and the space requirements of the chill mold remain low, the chill mold is provided with building elements independent from each other, that is with cooling elements (1) and mold support elements (2), which are disposed alternately and touching each other in a row next to each other or on top of each other as desired. The mold support elements (2) containing the mold hollow spaces (10) are freely movable with respect to their neighboring cooling elements (1). Each mold support element (2) can be individually pressed against a stop face (18') opposite to the casting direction.

  • Patent number: 4235279
Abstract: A continuous mold with a mold chamber, preferably a rectangular mold chamber, for continuously casting metals, especially copper and copper alloys, which includes a one piece or more piece graphite block and also includes cooling pipes forming components of a cooling circuit and being frictionally connected to the graphite block for improving the heat transfer to the mold chamber of the graphite block. The cooling circuit is structurally separate from the graphite block, and the cooling pipes yieldably engage the outer surface of the graphite block.
