  • Patent number: 7684590
Abstract: In a method of recognizing and/or tracking objects which correspond to real objects in at least one sensing zone of at least one sensor for electromagnetic radiation on the basis of images of the sensing zone repeatedly sensed by means of the sensor, succeeding images are evaluated in succeeding cycles and a search is made for at least one respective object found in a cycle on the basis of a corresponding image in a correspondingly later image in a later cycle to track the object. At least one part of an earlier image and/or at least one indication with respect to an earlier state of the object or of a real object corresponding to it, which is determined using a corresponding earlier image in the current cycle, is associated with at least one part of a current image determined in the current cycle or with an object recognized in the current cycle during at least one current cycle on the basis of the results of an at least preliminary evaluation of a current image.

  • Patent number: 7570793
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for providing corrected data in order to generate a model of a monitoring area which is located in the respective visual range of at least two opto-electronic sensors for determining the position of detected objects, based on the amounts of raw data elements corresponding to object points in said monitoring area, said amounts of raw data elements being respectively detected by one of the sensors when the visual range is sensed and associated therewith, and the amounts of raw data elements from various sensors which are temporally linked to each other forming a group. The raw data elements corresponding to said amounts respectively comprise at least the coordinates of object points detected by the associated sensor in relation to the position of the detecting sensor.

  • Patent number: 7295298
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for optically sensing the surrounding area of a vehicle using at least one optoelectronic emitting/receiving device that is mounted on the vehicle. According to the method, a monitoring area located in the field of vision of the emitting/receiving device is scanned and, in addition to the monitoring area, a region of particular interest is scanned by using at least one radiation deflecting device, which is located in the field of vision of the emitting/receiving device, however, outside of the monitoring area. The invention also relates to a corresponding sensing device.

  • Publication number: 20060290920
Abstract: A method for the at least partial calibration of a distance image sensor for electromagnetic radiation mounted on a vehicle is described by means of which a detection range along at least one scanned area can be scanned and a corresponding distance image can be detected in relation to an alignment of the scanned area or of the distance image sensor relative to the vehicle. Distances between the distance image sensor and regions on at least one calibration surface are found by means of the distance image sensor and a value for a parameter which at least partly describes the alignment is determined using the distances that are found.

  • Publication number: 20060115113
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for detecting and tracking objects based on deep resolution images containing pixels of at least one object, captured over a period of time by at least one sensor for detecting electromagnetic radiation, in particular a laser scanner, in a detection zone of the sensor. According to said method the following steps are carried out in successive cycles: at least one current object outline is formed from the pixels of a current image; at least one object outline is predicted in the current cycle for objects in a preceding cycle, starting from the respective object outline that was assigned to the corresponding object in the previous cycle; and a current position is determined for at least one of the objects, from the current object outline and/or the speed of an object is determined from the current object outline and the object outline in a preceding cycle.

  • Publication number: 20040247157
Abstract: The invention relates to method for preparing image information relating to a monitoring region in the visual region of an optoelectronic sensor, especially a laser scanner, used to record the position of objects in at least one recording plane, and in the visual region of a video system having at least one video camera. Depth images recorded by the optoelectronic sensor respectively contain pixels corresponding to points of a plurality of recorded objects in the monitoring region, with position co-ordinates of the corresponding object points, and the video images recorded by the video system comprise the pixels and the data detected by the video system. On the basis of the recorded position co-ordinates of at least one of the object points, at least one pixel corresponding to the object point and recorded by the video system is defined. The data corresponding to the pixel of the video image and the pixel of the depth image and/or the position co-ordinates of the object points are associated with each other.

  • Publication number: 20040240710
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for determining a model travel path based on the coordinates of points of objects reproducing a travel path, especially defining an object path, in an at least approximate manner, obtained by means of at least one opto-electronic sensor, especially a laser scanner. In a first step, a local area and a remote area are defined within the sight field of the sensor. In a second step, values of position parameters are determined from the object point coordinates in the local area enabling the breadth of model travel path to be determined along with the position of at least one model travel path edge in relation to the sensor. In a third step, course parameter values are determined from the object point coordinates in the local area with the aid of said position parameters in order to ascertain the course of said model travel path.
