  • Patent number: 6914440
Abstract: A welding system having a welding gun, comprising a casing that is grounded through a ground conductor, and a monitoring device, which detects the resistance of the ground conductor. A blanking device deactivates the monitoring device during the welding operation to reduce the danger of shut-downs through the ground integrity monitor. It is proposed to either deactivate the measuring circuit of the ground integrity monitor or to switch off the welding power interruption associated therewith as long as a welding current may flow or is flowing through the ground conductor. The monitoring device is deactivated or blanked out only for an essentially negligible fraction of the entire time, and there is no danger of any impairment of safety due to this short-term deactivation.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: May 22, 2003
Date of Patent: July 5, 2005
    Assignee: Matuschek Messtechnik GmbH
Inventors: Ulrich Matuschek, Karl Pöll, Peter Usedom

  • Patent number: 6570120
Abstract: Apparatus for resistance welding with different welding currents has a welding transformer having a primary and a secondary side. Two welding electrodes are connected at the secondary side to the welding transformer and are each arranged on a respective control arm, one of the arms being movable by an actuating drive. A control and regulating arrangement is connected on the primary side between the welding transformer and a connection to a three-phase network. The control and regulating arrangement has a rectifier circuit connected to all three phases of the network and a controllable welding inverter for converting the rectified voltage into voltage pulses of alternating polarity at a predetermined frequency. At least one electronic component of the rectifier circuit and/or the welding inverter is connected to the drive for moving one of the control arms, for controlling and/or powering the drive.

  • Patent number: 6072146
Abstract: A resistance welding device having a welding current source, a control and/or regulating device for regulating the welding current, and at least one set of interchangeable welding guns on which welding electrodes are mounted in such fashion that they can be pressed toward one another to hold sheets to be welded between them. The interchangeable welding guns contain a local data storage memory located on the welding guns for storing data specific to the operation of the welding guns, and a data interface which can interact with a second data interface located on the control and/or regulating device. When the set of welding guns in attached to the welding device, the two data interfaces are connected thereby permitting the specific operating data for the welding guns to be transmitted to the program memory of control and/or regulating device.

  • Patent number: 5015815
Abstract: A welding operation is regulated by determining quantitatively (numerically) and with high resolution from the measured values the effect of a welding influencing parameter power______________________________________ or/and energy or/and charge amount or/and electrode voltage or/and current strength ______________________________________on the resistance. Current strength of a welding current and voltage at welding electrodes and measured and the resistance of a workpiece to be welded during the welding operation is determined and stored. The resistance is evaluated by comparing it with an empirically determined correcting or command variable.
