Patent number: 5792353Abstract: In order to avoid dead spaces which are difficult to subject to backflushing and in which particles can be deposited, a special helical filter candle, a method of manufacture of said helical filter candle as well as an end portion (11) for a helical filter candle (1) is created. The helical filter candle (1) comprises a wire (2) wound in windings (3) onto a support structure (4) of support rods (5). At one end, an end portion (11) is welded to said support rods (5). The last of the windings (3) is ground flat in such a way that a spacing of uniform width arises between the surface of the end portion (11) and the final winding (3). During manufacture of the helical filter candle (1), the wire is wound onto the support rods (5) in windings (3), wherein the spacing (7) between the individual windings in a middle area (6) of the support rods (5) is less than in an end area (8) of approximately 3 to 5 windings.Type: GrantFiled: November 26, 1996Date of Patent: August 11, 1998Assignee: Filtrox-Werk AGInventors: Niklaus Jungi, Ulrich Schrader

Patent number: 4952247Abstract: In a process for cleaning, cleaning a packed column utilized in a gas scrubbing operation wherein the packing is obstructed by solids formed during the scrubbing step, the obstructions are removed in a maximally economical fashion and without interrupting of normal operation. The packed column contains at least n, wherein n>1, superimposed packed beds spatially separated from one another. During cleaning, the lowermost up to maximally the (n-1)th packed bed are flooded with scrubbing agent. Preferably, the packed column is used for scrubbing H.sub.2 S out of a feedgas mixture with an oxidative scrubbing agent wherein sulfur is formed during the scrubbing operation and deposited in the packed beds.Type: GrantFiled: August 12, 1988Date of Patent: August 28, 1990Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventors: Ulrich Schrader, Gerhard Alzner

Patent number: 4690812Abstract: The combined production of ammonia and urea by the reaction of gases containing hydrocarbons with steam is conducted by using a steam reformer, downstream secondary reformer, and shift converter. The ammonia synthesis gas (hydrogen, nitrogen and carbon dioxide) is subjected to a high pressure scrubbing step with a physical solvent, to remove the acid impurities, especially CO.sub.2. The pressure on the loaded solvent is reduced to a first intermediate pressure for degasing of the coabsorbed inerts and then to a second intermediate pressure for removal of the bulk of the absorbed CO.sub.2, which is then used for urea synthesis. To remove residual CO.sub.2, the solvent is stripped with air and the resultant air stream containing the stripped residual CO.sub.2 is fed to the secondary reformer.Type: GrantFiled: January 18, 1985Date of Patent: September 1, 1987Assignee: Linde AktiengesellschaftInventors: Gerhard Ranke, Ulrich Schrader
