  • Publication number: 20100089962
Abstract: A method for the control of a feed mechanism of a web-fed printing press, i.e., for the control of tensile stress and/or web tension of a printing material web to be taken into the printing unit by the feed mechanism, wherein thereby an actual value is compared with a desired value. According to the discrepancy between the actual value and the desired value, a control device for the tensile stress and/or the web tension produces a correcting variable for the feed mechanism. The actual value of the tensile stress and/or the web tension is determined by calculation based on a model.

  • Publication number: 20060130683
Abstract: In a turner bar unit having turner bars arranged one above another in a plurality of planes, unscrewed webs of a web printing material can be inserted into the turner bar unit from the sides, in a plurality of planes arranged one above another on each side. The webs of the web printing material can be divided into part webs at cutting devices arranged upstream of the turner bars in the insertion direction of the printing material on each side, and the part webs can be deflected or turned at the turner bars in such a way that the part webs can exit the turner bar unit at right angles to the insertion direction of the printing material.

  • Publication number: 20050239625
Abstract: A folding apparatus that permits the production of a wide range of folded products at a relatively low cost and requires a minimal amount of space is provided. The folding apparatus includes a main former for receiving webs up to the maximum web width and a smaller former for receiving webs of up to approximately one-half of the maximum web width. The main former includes a main former nose and the smaller former includes a smaller former nose. The main and smaller formers are arranged such that the main former nose and the smaller former nose lie substantially in a common perpendicular plane when viewed from a side of the folding apparatus such that a partial web stream emerging from the main former and a partial web stream emerging from the smaller former can undergo further processing almost congruently after folding.

  • Patent number: 6776750
Abstract: A low-oscillation and space-saving drive for a changeable format folder of a rotary printing is provided, the rotary printing machine having rotating subassemblies that can be driven, in particular a cutting cylinder, a pin folding blade cylinder, a folding jaw cylinder, a gripper folding blade cylinder, and perforating cylinders belonging to a perforating device. The drive is split up into individual subsystems, and each subsystem is assigned a controlled-position drive motor. In the event of failure of a drive motor, the drive continues to operate without functional impairment.

  • Patent number: 5394797
Abstract: A mounting for an impression cylinder equipped with a slipped on tube, in a rotary press. The axle journal of the cylinder is braced by way of a bearing an operating state against at least three supporting bodies. The supporting bodies can be shifted out of the area of an opening in a supporting frame to enable the tubes to be changed, as well as with respect to the position of the impression cylinder that is to be realized. The supporting bodies are supported in each case in the supporting frame so that they can be pivoted about an axis perpendicular to the supporting frame.

  • Patent number: 5392709
Abstract: A mounting for an impression cylinder, which is equipped with a tube that can be slipped on in a rotary press and which is supported in the operating state laterally and radially by at least three supporting bodies. The bodies can be shifted from the region of an opening in the supporting frame that enables the tubes to be exchanged as well as with respect to the position of the impression cylinder that is to be realized. The supporting bodies are constructed in each case as a roll which supports the impression cylinder over a peripheral bearing surface outside of the seat for the tube and is rotatably disposed on an eccentric bolt mounted in the supporting frame parallel to the axis of the impression cylinder.
