Abstract: Agents useful for influencing the relaxation times in NMR diagnostics, contain at least one paramagnetic, physiologically compatible complex salt comprising a chelate from an open-chain or cyclic complex-forming compound containing organic nitrogen, phosphorus, oxygen and/or sulfur, and a complexed ion of the lanthanide elements of atomic number 57-70 or of the transition metals of atomic numbers 21-29, 42 and 44, and, optionally, an inorganic or organic base or acid.

Abstract: The invention refers to the use of N-acetylglucosamine for the therapy of degenerative diseases of the joints and of the connective and the supporting tissues as well as for the therapy of related diseases, wherein the N-acetylglucosamine is administered to the body through buccal absorption.

Abstract: Novel N-hydroxyethylated 2,4,6-triiodoaminoisophthalic acid bistrihydroxybutylamides of Formula (I) ##STR1## wherein R is a trihydroxybutyl residue, are excellently suitable, due inter alia, to their outstanding compatibility and high water solubility, as opacifying compounds in X-ray contrast media for use in X-ray diagnostic examination methods.

Abstract: Novel N-hydroxyalkylated dicarboxylic acid bis(3,5-dicarbamoyl-2,4,6-triiodoanilides) have Formula I ##STR1## wherein R.sup.1 is a lower, linear or branched mono- or polyhydroxyalkyl residue,R.sup.2 is hydrogen, lower alkyl, or R.sup.1,R.sup.3 is lower mono- or dihydroxyalkyl, andX is a direct bond or linear or branched alkylene, which can be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms or substituted by hydroxy or alkoxy groups.The novel dimeric compounds of Formula I possess good pharmacological and physicochemical properties making them very advantageous as radiopaque agents in all fields of application for water-soluble, iodine-containing X-ray contrast media.

Abstract: Unsymmetrically substituted dicarboxylic-acid-bis-(2,4,6-triiodo-anilides) of formula I ##STR1## wherein X is straight-chain or branched alkylene interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms,R.sup.1 is --NHacyl, --CH.sub.2 NHacyl, or --CONHR.sup.3 wherein R.sup.3 is hydrogen or a lower straight-chain or branched optionally mono- or poly-hydroxylated, alkyl residue, and where any hydroxyl groups present may be functionally modified, andR.sup.2 is hydrogen or lower alkyl, and their salts,are extraordinarily well suited, in view of their good pharmacological and physico-chemical properties, as water-soluble x-ray contrast media for all fields of application, in particular for i.v. cholegraphy and for computer tomography.

Abstract: Ionic compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein X is --CONR.sub.1 R.sub.2, --CH.sub.2 NH.multidot.Acyl or --CH.sub.2 OH; Y is --NR.sub.3 R.sub.4, --NH.multidot.Acyl or OR.sub.5 ; R.sub.1, R.sub.2, R.sub.3 and R.sub.4 can be identical or different, and each is hydrogen, C.sub.1-6 - alkyl or C.sub.2-8 -alkyl substituted by 1-5 OH groups and/or by one C.sub.1-3 -alkoxy group, R.sub.5 is C.sub.1-6 alkyl or C.sub.2-8 -alkyl substituted by 1-5 OH groups and/or by one C.sub.1-3 -alkoxy group, and Acyl, which can be the same or different in X and Y, is C.sub.2-6 -alkanoyl or C.sub.2-6 -alkanoyl substituted by 1-4 OH groups and/or by one C.sub.1-3 -alkoxy group, or a physiologically compatible salt thereof with an inorganic or organic base, have valuable properties as X-ray contrast agents.

Abstract: In order to prolong the effectiveness of depot preparations of progestagens in an oily, unsaturated solution for intramuscular injection having long-term effectiveness sufficient for a desired purpose, the volume of the injection solution is increased such that the duration of the progestational activity is increased to at least 13 weeks while retaining the same quantity of active agent to be administered.

Abstract: Iodized isophthalamic acid compounds of the formula ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1 is straight-chain or branched lower hydroxyalkyl;R.sub.2 is hydroxymethyl or a lower, straight-chain or branched alkyl of at least 2 carbon atoms, which can be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, or is ##STR2## wherein Z is a carbon-to-carbon bond or a straight-chain or branched hydrocarbon which can be interrupted by one or more oxygen atoms, or when R.sub.1 is other than --CH.sub.2 --CH.sub.2 --OH, is methyl; and the salts thereof with physiologically acceptable inorganic or organic bases, are x-ray contrast agents.

Abstract: An oral dosage form of X-ray contrast medium for cholecystocolangiography comprises a constrast agent and an amount of a pharmaceutically acceptable base, sufficient to neutralize the stomach acid of the person ingesting it.
