  • Patent number: 7128026
Abstract: In a method for controlling the heat in an internal combustion engine for a vehicle with a coolant circuit and actuable devices for influencing the heat balance of the internal combustion engine, wherein a coolant temperature and further operating parameters of the internal combustion engine are recorded, the actuable devices are operated as a function of the coolant temperature and the further operating parameters of the internal combustion engine in such a manner that an output value for determining a control variable is provided by means of a basic characteristic diagram as a function of the rotational speed and the load on the internal combustion engine, and this control value is corrected by means of a controller as a function of the coolant temperature and/or the further operating parameters.

  • Publication number: 20050257520
Abstract: The invention relates to a method for operating a compressor in the intake section of an internal combustion engine, in particular of a motor vehicle. A state variable which describes the behavior of the compressor, for example the frequency and/or amplitude of the intake air flow, is monitored. If the state variable exceeds or drops below at least one predefined or predefinable limiting value, intervention is carried out in a regulating and/or controlling fashion. A particularly simple way of implementing this method is obtained in that an output signal, generated for regulating and/or controlling the internal combustion engine, of an air flow sensor which is arranged in the intake tract is used as the state variable.

  • Patent number: 6314737
Abstract: An internal combustion engine having one or more parallel exhaust-driven turbochargers that each comprise an activatable delivery capacity adjusting unit for variable adjustment of the boost air delivery capacity with malfunction monitoring of each individual delivery capacity adjusting unit wherein, upon detection of a malfunction of a respective delivery capacity adjusting unit, a corresponding malfunction datum is emitted.
