  • Patent number: 4978582
Abstract: The invention concerns three-layer composites with their plastic core so uniformly enriched with an appropriate percentage by volume of a ferrosilicon with an appropriate particle size that the composites can be securely joined to each other and to sheets of metal alone by resistance welding. The property applies to composites with either a viscously elastic or an impact-resistant core.

  • Patent number: 4713519
Abstract: The invention involves the use of laser beam welding for the mass production of welded shells for sheet metal cans. The high requirements as to the precision of the welded seam are obtained through a guide system for exactly guiding pieces to the welding machine and consisting of an X-rail, a guide bar and the spring loaded jaws of a caterpillar tractor. A smooth welded seam is produced on the inner side of the can shell by having the seam welded from the inside of the can shell as well as from the outside by means of a laser beam.

  • Patent number: 4707385
Abstract: The invention concerns a method for firing enamel on steel parts, especially on steel sheet of aluminum stabilized continuous cast steel material, as well as an enameling oven with a firing zone and an entry zone serving as a prewarming zone for the carrying out of this process. The invention is characterized in that the heating of the steel part or steel sheet to the firing temperature is interrupted before reaching the firing temperature, in that hydrogen dissolved in the steel is released during the interruption time, that the steel part subsequently is heated further to the firing temperature, is held at this temperature and is then cooled in a known way. The enameling oven for carrying out the method consists according to the invention of a degasing zone inserted between the firing zone and the prewarming zone, in which degasing zone the workpiece coated with enamel is held for a given minimum time at a definite temperature.

  • Patent number: 4635586
Abstract: A process and apparatus for depositing a high-quality metallic coating on a steel strip. In this process, one or several metals or metal alloys are continuously evaporated in a thermal plasma from nonoxidizing gas and transformed into the highly ionized state of the thermal plasma. Subsequently, the metal ions contained in the plasma are electrostatically deposited on the steel strip at a pressure elevated by 100 Pa to 5000 Pa relative to the ambient pressure. During coating, the steel strip is held at a uniform temperature and coated at a rate of 40 m/min to 600 m/min.

  • Patent number: 4223047
Abstract: A method of depositing an oil containing protective surface layer on a very thin metal sheet preferably intended for packing purposes. The very thin metal sheet, in the form of a band and at a band speed of up to 600 m/min, is electrostatically coated with a mixture comprising 1 to 2 parts of an ester of sebacic acid, azelaic acid, or citric acid, and 1 part of a high molecular monobasic acid having the general formula CH.sub.3 (CH.sub.2).sub.n CON(CH.sub.3)CH.sub.2 COOH. The coating is formed in a layer of 1 to 10 mg/m.sup.2 of surface of the metal sheet.

  • Patent number: 4152916
Abstract: A method for processing steel strip, which comprises cold-rolling the steel strip, coiling the rolled steel strip and annealing the coiled steel strip, wherein a rolling oil emulsion containing 0.1 to 5 percent by weight of SiO.sub.2 in the form of stabilized silicic acid sol and having a pH value between 5.0 and 9.0 is applied to the steel strip prior to coiling and the rolling oil emulsion so employed.
