  • Patent number: 7339338
Abstract: A door, especially a sectional door, is operated with the use of a drive unit with a drive gear, a clutch, and a position-detecting unit. The position-detecting unit detects the direction of rotation of the drive gear, detects the number of revolutions of the drive gear by pulses, and stores the pulses, taking the direction of rotation into consideration, in a nonvolatile memory. A data-processing unit is present in which different variable sequence programs are stored, which include not only safety-relevant programs but also a learning program. Reference values are determined by the position-detecting unit for a variable open position of the door, which position can be set as desired, and for a completely open position, which is limited by a stop, as well as for a closed position of the door are stored in a nonvolatile memory and are processed during automatic travel of the door.

  • Patent number: 7180260
Abstract: A barrier operator includes a drive motor and a controller for causing the motor to move the barrier between open and closed positions and for monitoring parameters related to forces acting on the barrier during movement thereof. If no external entrapment device is connected to the controller, the controller automatically sets maximum control limit values which will effect stopping or reversing of the motor if an obstruction is encountered by the barrier. If an external entrapment device is connected to the controller, the controller requires a user to set the control limit values at least for movement of the barrier from an open position to a closed position. Audio or visual signal indicators associated with the controller alert the user to the requirement to set the control limits before the operator will effect movement of the barrier.

  • Patent number: 5770934
Abstract: A process for the closed-loop control and thus for the limitation of the maximum allowable force on the primary and secondary closing edges of an automatic door. This object is achieved by conducting a verification of the drive system before each movement of the door panel. During this verification, the actual value of the motor current during the startup phase is verified by means of a stored motor torque characteristic.

  • Patent number: 5127190
Abstract: A sliding door with two for example panels coupled with a belt-drive mechanism driven in turn by a motor. The panels are also connected to an auxiliary drive mechanism that is provided with energy by the panel as it slides into a closed position and that can move the panel when the clutch is deprived of current. At least one programming switch, a motion sensor, and a limit switch activate regular controls that move the panel automatically. Self-monitoring additional electronic controls constitute a door-safety module. The object is to monitor the opening of the door in response to a signal from the motion sensor and to allow self-testing of the function of the auxiliary drive mechanism and ensure inherent reliability of the door-opening monitoring process. A door-safety module is controlled in accordance with a program and has at least one motion sensor and one limit switch associated with it.
