  • Patent number: 6730631
Abstract: A method is for producing monolithic substrate catalysts and for their use in the gas phase oxidation of hydrocarbons. The catalysts are obtained by coating the catalyst substrate with a suspension that includes a catalytically active compound and one or more surfactants of the general formula RnYmX. R represents the hydrophobic part of the surfactant, with n being 1, 2 or 3. Y represents the hydrophobic part of the surfactant, with m being 0, 1, 2, or 3 and X represents the hydrophilic head group of the surfactant.

  • Patent number: 6624114
Abstract: The invention relates to supported catalysts consisting of an active material on an inert support in the shape of rings, wherein the rings have one or more notches in the upper and/or lower flat side of the ring.

  • Patent number: 6583231
Abstract: The invention relates to a process to make aminated polyolefins involving the steps of: ozonolysis of one or more low-molecular weight polyolefins with at least one end group that is unsaturated, in the presence of an alkanol-hydrocarbon mixture, to form polyolefin-alkoxyhydroperoxides, catalytic reduction of the polyolefin-alkoxyhydroperoxides with hydrogen and a suitable catalyst, to form a mixture of hemiacetals and hemiketals, in the presence of a solvent, removal of the catalyst and optional washing of the mixture resulting from step 2, to remove undesired side products, reductive amination of the hemiacetal hemiketal mixture to form the aminated polyolefin end product, preferably at a temperature of 50-200° C., optionally in the presence of a solvent, and removal of the catalyst and optional removal of the solvent. The aminated products obtained are pre-eminently suited for use as an adjuvant in oils and fuels.

  • Patent number: 6320084
Abstract: The invention pertains to a process for the preparation of glyceraldehyde, or an acetal or a hemiacetal thereof, characterized in that 3-butene-1,2-diol is dissolved in a lower alkanol and is subjected to ozonolysis to obtain a 3-hydroperoxy-3-alkoxy-propane-1,2-diol, which is subjected to a reductive treatment to obtain a hemiacetal of glyceraldehyde, which optionally may be converted into glyceraldehyde or an acetal or hemiacetal thereof, and to a process wherein the hemiacetal of glyceraldehyde is converted to a 3-aminopropane-1,2-diol derivative, by subjecting the hemiacetal of glyceraldehyde to a reductive treatment in the presence of ammonia or a primary or secondary amine.
