  • Patent number: 8702806
Abstract: A cotyloid implant including a screwable cup receiving an articular insert. The cup is provided with screwing elements (11) on the periphery thereof and more particularly in the equatorial area (2) thereof, the elements being used to penetrate the bone material of the acetabular cup during screwing. The cup includes an osteointegration-facilitating coating such as a selective calcium hydroxyapatite coating. The coating (16) is a thick coating on the convex parts of the outer surface of the cup, including areas or valleys or hollow thread elements which are left free in the screwing elements. The coating is not as thick (17) on raised areas or screw thread areas.

  • Patent number: 4920959
Abstract: Any external fixture for bone synthesis is provided with at least one bridge member, a plurality of holders are orientable and screw clampable on this bridge member by clamping surfaces. The holders have cylindrical holder openings which are closable by an operating screw and thereby serve as clamp holders, each for one bone nail and/or one bone screw. The cylindrical holder openings are bounded by a one piece connected wall surface and are closable individual or jointly with adjacent holder clamp jaw surfaces on the clamp side, on tightening the operating screw. Thus the cylindrical holder openings are each elastically or plastically deformable by a drill and/or screw guide receiving a bone drill with play, from a layer width - down to a smaller width for clamping. The external fixture affords a simple structure, easy to manufacture and at the same time simple handling during operation.

  • Patent number: 4865607
Abstract: A tibial plate for a knee-joint endoprosthesis has a reinforcement member capable of distributing the joint forces uniformly over the spongiosa so that the spongiosa will not atrophy and is subjected to flexture from the tibial plate which is also supported on a cut section of the corticalis surrounding the spongiosa.

  • Patent number: 4619659
Abstract: A hip endoprosthesis for mounting in a distally tapering recess that opens at the proximal end of a femur has a nonmetallic sheath imbedded in the recess so as to be generally integral with the femur and having an inner surface with a distally tapering proximal portion and a uniform-section distal portion. A ball shaped to fit into an acetabulum is carried on a neck in turn formed unitarily of metal with the ball with a stem engaged in the sheath and having an outer surface with a proximal portion complementary to and tightly fitted in the proximal surface portion of the sheath surface and a distal portion slidable in the distal surface portion of the sheath surface. Thus relative motion of the proximal surface portions is impossible but relative sliding motion of the distal surface portions is possible.
