    Abstract: A method and apparatus to generate a controlled copy of information stored on an optical storage media. The method and apparatus comprising reading accessible information from a source optical storage media, generating information corresponding to inaccessible information stored on the source optical storage media; and saving the accessible information and the generated information such that the generated information is accessible. The accessible information and the generated information may be written to a first optical storage media. Also, the method and apparatus may modify the information saved on the persistent data storage media to either violate or not violate optical media standards, and write the modified information to a second optical storage media.
