  • Publication number: 20240079913
Abstract: Transmitter assemblies and methods for making and using the same. The transmitter assembly can be used for magnetic power transfer. The transmitter assembly can include a primary inductor configured to produce an electromagnetic field. The transmitter assembly can include a back shield unit including a primary back shield that has a first surface proximal to the primary inductor and a second surface opposite to the first surface. The primary back shield is at least partially made of a ferromagnetic material and has a property that is non-uniformly distributed from a center region of the primary back shield to an outer perimeter region of the primary back shield. The property includes a thickness, a magnetic property, or a combination thereof. When used in wireless charging, the transmitter assembly results in improved coupling factor, misalignment tolerance, efficiency, magnetic emissions and z-height coupling distance of a magnetic power transfer profile.

  • Publication number: 20230122088
Abstract: A wireless charging system that includes a plurality of wireless charging pads positioned along a roadway. Each of the wireless charging pads define a transmitter configured to wirelessly transfer electrical power to a receiver of one or more electric vehicles as the electric vehicles are in motion relative to the roadway. The system includes a power station disposed adjacent to the roadway, and communicatively coupled to the wireless charging pads. The power station defines an inverter configured to transfer electrical power to the wireless charging pads from a power source. The wireless charging pads are collectively configured to wirelessly charge the electric vehicles in response to the electric vehicles moving along the roadway, such that the receiver of the electric vehicles continuously receives the electrical power from the wireless charging pads as the electric vehicle moves on the roadway.

  • Patent number: 10369894
Abstract: A parking alignment sequence for wirelessly charging an electric vehicle can include determining a location of a charging station by a processing device of a user device based on communication over a cellular network. The charging station can have a transmitter for wirelessly transmitting power to a receiver of the electric vehicle. A first user interface having directions to the charging station from a current location of the user device can be displayed. Alignment data can be wirelessly received via a communication path that is independent of the cellular network in response to the electric vehicle being located within a predetermined distance from the charging station. A second user interface having alignment instructions can be displayed for moving the electric vehicle into alignment based on the alignment data in response to the electric vehicle being located within the predetermined distance from the charging station.

  • Patent number: 10145517
Abstract: The present invention relates generally to LED (light emitting diode) array assemblies, and more specifically, to hi-powered LED array assemblies which are compact, cost-effective and easily assembled, while still addressing the issue of thermal management in such systems. An improved LED array assembly is described which is compact, cost-effective and easily assembled, while still addressing the issue of thermal management. An exemplary LED assembly consists of four separate and independent printed circuit boards (PCBs) which are arranged in an elongated square prism on a base PCB to form a “tower”, the four PCBs being mechanically interconnected by means of complementary slots and tabs. Each of the vertically arranged PCBs supports and provides power to one or more LEDs. Other aspects of the invention are also described including a flared base, drainage openings, and retaining notches on the perimeter of the PCB tower.

  • Patent number: 10128697
Abstract: Foreign objects at a wireless charging station can be detected and deterred by activating a primary coil in a transmitter to generate an electromagnetic field in response to a receiver being positioned within a predetermined distance from the primary coil. The receiver can be coupled to a battery in an electric vehicle for wirelessly receiving power from the transmitter for charging the battery. A voltage induced on a sensor coil in response to a foreign object being positioned within the electromagnetic field can be measured. The sensor coil can include a first spiral and a second spiral. The first spiral being spiraled in a first direction away from the point and the second spiral being spiraled in a second direction away from the point. The foreign object can be determined to be between the transmitter and the receiver based on the voltage.

  • Patent number: 10072817
Abstract: The present disclosure describes light systems in which the intensity of base color LEDs configured to emit light within a target color region is increased using additional white LEDs and the emitted light is filtered so that a dominant portion of light passing through the filter at a particular viewing angle is within the target color region. The present disclosure also describes methods for forming a printed circuit board with an integral heat sink arrangement by depositing additional solder on solder pads that are not used to connect electronic components so that the additional solder acts as a heat sink.
