  • Patent number: 8718726
Abstract: Methods and apparatus for reducing voice call drop rate. Existing devices do not account for the added burden of background services on voice calls. Specifically, multi-RAB scenarios (e.g., a voice call and background services) can experience significant reduction in call quality. Accordingly, in one exemplary embodiment, background services that are not time-critical and/or application-critical can be suspended while a voice call is in progress. By suspending background traffic during a call, the device can avoid unnecessary multi-RAB voice call operation, which significantly improves overall network operation and user experience.

  • Publication number: 20140066038
Abstract: In order to improve the management of the power consumption of electronic devices (such as cellular telephones), the operating mode of an interface circuit in an electronic device may be changed when certain commands are received. In particular, when one or more commands are received that disable data communication via the interface circuit and a cellular-telephone network and/or enable communication via another interface circuit in the electronic device and a wireless local area network (WLAN), the interface circuit may be transitioned to an operating mode in which data communication via the cellular-telephone network using a communication protocol that supports only data and no voice is disabled. For example, the communication protocol may include a Long Term Evolution (LTE)-compatible communication protocol.

  • Patent number: 8594747
Abstract: Method, apparatus and computer program product to adapt the timing for releasing connections between a mobile wireless device and a wireless network is described. The mobile wireless device monitors data activity, and the value of a fast dormancy timer increases when data activity increases and decreases when data activity decreases. The mobile wireless device counts successive time intervals that include data activity and changes the value of the fast dormancy timer based on a preferred fast dormancy timer value related to the successive time interval count.

  • Publication number: 20120176144
Abstract: A circuit for providing a local scan enable signal includes a first transistor having a first gate coupled to a general scan enable signal, a first source and a first drain and a second transistor having a second gate coupled to a scan clock, a second source coupled to the first drain and a second drain. The circuit also includes a third transistor having a third gate coupled to the general scan enable signal, a third drain coupled to the second drain and a third source and an output stabilizer coupled to the second drain, the output stabilizer including a first inverter and a second inverter coupled together in opposite orientations.

  • Patent number: 8004345
Abstract: A system and method for minimizing non-linearity errors induced in output drive voltage of a transmitter circuit due to on-chip process, voltage, and temperature (PVT) variations. The system including an oscillator for converting an input reference bias voltage into a clock output signal, where the input reference bias voltage varies in response to PVT variations. Also included is a counter for counting the clock output signal and generating a count value corresponding to the clock output of the oscillator. A comparison module operatively coupled to the counter compares the count value with a pre-simulated count value to generate an error signal. Based on the error signal generated by the comparison module, a correction logic adjusts an output drive signal of the transmitter circuit making it immune to PVT variations.
