  • Patent number: 9273918
Abstract: A round counter, comprising a detection unit to detect energy pulses resulting from an impact to a firearm; a round counter processor to analyze data obtained by the detection unit to count a number of rounds fired from the firearm; the round counter processor is configured to designate a time window data that is substantially a time length of an energy pulse; wherein the round counter processor compares the time window data to a firing window, the firing window is a predetermined time length required for discharging a round from the firearm; the time window has a substantial time span of firing at least two rounds; a firing counter increases the count when the round counter processor determines the time window data is larger than the firing window and transfers a command to the firing counter to increase the count of the firing counter.

  • Patent number: 8278800
Abstract: A multilayer piezoelectric generator is disclosed comprising a round, rectangular or other shaped box having a cover. In the box are top and bottom electrodes and a plurality of electricity generating layers. Each Layer comprises a plurality of piezoelectric rods held in place by a matrix layer that fits snugly in the box and configured to accept shear strains developed in the rods when pressure is applied to the cover. The layers are separated by central electrode layers. The structure is configures such that pressure is evenly spreads among all the rods and causes the rods to make contacts with the electrodes. Rods in adjacent layers are oppositely poled, and the electrodes are configured and wired such that all the rods are connected parallel such that their generated charge is summed. Adaptation of the generator to its application is done by changing the number and thickness of the layers.

  • Publication number: 20120243622
Abstract: Methods and apparatus that reduce the error rate of a Serial-De-Serial (SerDes) backplane connection are shown. The apparatus may include a receiver verifying a received block of data at the PHY layer. When the received block of data is received correctly, that block can be acknowledged by the receiver to the transmitter, which is also located at the PHY later. Upon detection of an error in a block of data, the receiver may send a negative acknowledge along with the block number, or some other suitable block identifier, of the faulty block to the transmitter. The transmitter may buffer blocks of data, and remove each block from the buffer upon receiving an acknowledgement. Use of the retransmission protocol may be triggered by speed of the connection, the bandwidth of the connection, the detection of too many errors in the connection or any suitable combination of these, or other, parameters.

  • Publication number: 20110291526
Abstract: A stack of piezoelectric elements, in the form of an elongated rod divided in to segments, for generating electric energy in response to compressive stress is provided comprising: piezoelectric elements stacked one on top of the other such that electrodes of same polarity of adjacent disks are touching A holding structure, such as a screw holds the piezoelectric elements together between a top and a bottom end pieces which transfer mechanical compressive stress to the elements in the stack. The holding structure accepts shear stresses, provides preloading stress on the stack and prevents buckling of the stack under pressure. A recess in the end piece, deeper than the head of the screw, ensures that load placed on the stack will compress the piezoelectric elements and not on the screw.
