  • Patent number: 5127882
Abstract: A variable transmission or variator uses a particular V-belt pulley. This pulley is connect to a flexible link for transmitting a driven or driving force. The pulley consists of two disklike sheaves which are variably pressed together. To reduce power losses, bearings for the sheaves assure that the sheaves are either non-loaded or not loaded parallel, but rather are variably inclined to each other. Then, the groove between the sheaves is at its maximum width approximately at the points where the belt leaves the driving pulley and comes onto the driven pulley.

  • Patent number: 4913684
Abstract: A variable transmission automatically changing its transmission ratio in accordance with the resistance to propagation of the vehicle, in which the force-transmitting transmission link is a V-belt (1) or equivalent and in which at least the secondary pulley consists of cup disks (2,3) urged against each other and interconnected with a multiple-end screw (4,5) and a compression spring (7). As taught by the invention, the compression spring (7) is at the same time a torsion spring, and its initial position is settable at assembly or adjustable.

  • Patent number: 4810237
Abstract: The objects of the invention are a V-belt pulley and drive and it relates to V-belt transmissions, where the belt is a die-cut type without changes in the construction in the lateral direction. The aim is to improve efficiency and safety of function, in particular in slow-running drives working in dirty environment. The method used is to make arched round bottomed grooves on the contact surfaces of the pulleys. By optimizing of the spiral forms and their inclination angles it has been tried to control the wedging of the belt between contact cones of the pulleys and besides to reduce the radial sliding of the belt. It can also be useful to make two groovings crossing each other onto the contact surfaces to assist them in getting and staying clean.
