  • Publication number: 20210371571
Abstract: A method for preparing an acid solution by contacting at least one aromatic carboxylic or sulfonic acid with at least one polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups as a solvent. The polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups is not volatile and exhibits a surprisingly high dissolving capacity for the aromatic carboxylic or sulfonic acid. The acid solution is very compatible in curable compositions and does not cause any emission or odor or migration effects. The acid solution is particularly suitable as a constituent of polyurethane compositions having latent curing agents for accelerating the hydrolysis of the latent reactive groups.

  • Publication number: 20210332181
Abstract: A curing agent for epoxy resins, including at least one amine A1 of the formula (I) and at least one amine A2 which is a polyalkyleneamine or polyethyleneimine, where the weight ratio between amine A1 and amine A2 is in the range from 20/1 to 1/2. The curing agent of the invention enables inexpensive and low-emission epoxy resin products having good processability, long pot life, surprisingly rapid curing, especially also under cold conditions, high strength, high bond strengths, high glass transition temperature and a low tendency to yellowing, with formation of surprisingly nice surfaces having barely any blushing-related defects even in the case of two-dimensional application and under moist and cold conditions. Such epoxy resin products are advantageously usable as coating, especially for floors, or as adhesive.

  • Patent number: 11149106
Abstract: A two-component polyurethane composition containing at least 55% by weight of polybutadiene polyols based on the total amount of all polyols having an average molecular weight of at least 500 g/mol, and at least one latent hardener, where the ratio of the number of reactive groups in the latent hardener to the number of OH groups present is in the range from 0.02 to 0.4. The composition has a long open time, blister-free curing, a very low glass transition temperature, high elasticity and surprisingly high strength which is very constant over a wide temperature range. Furthermore, it has very good adhesion to metallic and nonmetallic substrates, causing barely any stress cracks on glassy thermoplastics.

  • Patent number: 11097259
Abstract: A compound containing at least one hexahydrotriazine unit of formula (I) having at least one amidine or guanidine group and to the use thereof as a catalyst for the crosslinking of a functional compound, in particular a polymer including silane groups. The compound contains at least one hexahydrotriazine unit of formula (I) is producible in a simple process from readily available feedstocks, odorless at room temperature, non-volatile and largely non-toxic. The compound accelerates the crosslinking of functional polymers surprisingly well and by simple variation of the substituents is variable such that it has very good compatibility in different polymers as a result of which such compositions do not have a propensity for migration-based defects such as separation, exudation or substrate contamination.

  • Publication number: 20210253776
Abstract: A composition including a first component containing at least one polyol and at least one compound having at least one reactive group of the formula (I), and a second component containing at least one aromatic polyisocyanate and/or at least one polymer containing aromatic isocyanate groups. The composition has a long open time and, even in the case of small amounts of compound having at least one reactive group of the formula (I), enables elastic coatings having improved mechanical properties without causing problems with odor immissions or migration effects. It is thus particularly suitable as a coating for floors or roof areas.

  • Publication number: 20210246101
Abstract: The use of an aldehyde mixture containing 70 to 95 wt % of aldehydes of formula (I) and 5 to 30 wt % of alkylbenzene compounds not corresponding to formula (I) as a blocking agent for amines results in odorless, especially economically blocked amines, which at room temperature are typically liquid and have a surprisingly low viscosity. Such blocked amines are particularly suitable as latent hardeners in isocyanate-group-containing compositions. Single-component moisture-curing polyurethane compositions formulated therewith are surprisingly stable in storage, can be used for low-emission applications without odor problems and do not trigger any problems with plasticizer migration. Surprisingly, said compositions even have advantages over corresponding compositions having latent hardeners based on purified aldehydes of formula (I), in particular with respect to viscosity, storage stability and especially strength.

  • Publication number: 20210246257
Abstract: A curing agent for epoxy resins has N-benzylethane-1,2-diamine and N,N?-dibenzylethane-1,2-diamine in a weight ratio in the range from 65/35 to 95/5. The curing agent is easy to prepare, thins epoxy resins particularly well, and enables low-emission epoxy resin products that have good workability and a long pot-life, cure reliably and surprisingly fast and can be walked on after a short time, in particular even in cold conditions. Coatings of particularly high mechanical grade, with a high surface quality and a minimal tendency to yellowing, can thus be produced. Epoxy resins of this type are particularly suitable for coating floors.

  • Publication number: 20210163667
Abstract: Curable compositions include at least one organic polymer which contains silane groups and/or isocyanate groups, at least one compound which contains acetal groups and has a molecular weight of at least 280 g/mol, and at least one basic catalyst. The composition is particularly storage-stable and can be readily processed. Using moisture the composition cures rapidly, and with very little residual tackiness, to form a resilient material that has good adhesive and mechanical properties, in particular a high level of malleability and elasticity, is heat resistant and exhibits hardly any odour formation or migration effects. In particular, the composition has very consistent product properties during storage in respect of viscosity, curing rate and odour.

  • Publication number: 20210147674
Abstract: A moisture-curing polyurethane composition having a content of monomeric diisocyanates of at most 0.1 wt %, containing: at least one isocyanate-group-containing polyurethane polymer having a content of monomeric diisocyanates of at most 0.5 wt %, obtained from reaction of at least one monomeric diisocyanate with at least one polyether polyol at a NCO/OH ratio of at least 3/1 and subsequent removal of a large part of monomeric diisocyanates by way of a suitable separating method; and at least one polyether having blocked hydroxyl groups and free of isocyanate groups, as a plasticizer. Moisture-curing polyurethane composition is highly storage-stable when moisture is excluded, can be safely handled without special safety precautions, can be sold without hazard label, can be well processed, has long open time and has fast curing to form elastic material of high strength and extensibility, high cold flexibility, good adhesion properties and high stability with respect to heat and moisture.

  • Patent number: 10995074
Abstract: An amidine containing at least one structural unit of the formula (I) and the use thereof as catalyst for the crosslinking of a functional compound, especially of a polymer having silane groups. The amidine is preparable in a simple process from readily available starting materials, is largely odorless at room temperature and is of low toxicity. It accelerates the crosslinking of functional compounds surprisingly efficiently and can be adjusted for optimal compatibility with different compositions via the radical to which the structural units of the formula (I) is bonded, which means that such compositions do not have a tendency to migration-related defects such as separation, exudation or substrate soiling.

  • Patent number: 10941164
Abstract: An aldiminosilane of the formula (I), to the use thereof as adhesion promoters and/or crosslinking agents, and to curable compositions including same. The aldiminosilane of the formula (I) is odorless, pH-neutral, liquid at room temperature, and has a low sensitivity to heat. The hydrolysis of the aldiminosilane proceeds relatively slowly, and the aldiminosilane is highly effective as an adhesion promoter. Furthermore, the aldiminosilane exhibits excellent compatibility with curable compositions based on isocyanates, epoxides, or silanes, whereby such compositions do not exhibit a propensity for migration effects such as bleeding or substrate soiling after being cured. In particular, isocyanate group-containing compositions containing the aldiminosilane of the formula (I) are highly storage-stable regardless of the storage temperature and the isocyanate used.
