  • Publication number: 20080102834
Abstract: The present invention provides methods for selecting a target cell for a blind handover. The methods may include selecting at least one target cell for a blind handover of a first mobile unit based on at least one measurement performed by the first mobile unit or at least one second mobile unit for at least one measurement-based handover.

  • Patent number: 7239875
Abstract: A method is provided of establishing or releasing a radio connection between a first mobile user station and a first cell for wireless telecommunications during a call with the first mobile user station. This is both whilst the call continues and dependent upon at least one predetermined criterion being met. This occurs in a network for wireless telecommunications handling calls with various data rates to mobile user stations such that some of the mobile user stations at a time have multiple radio connections to the network via multiple cells. A pilot signal is sent between the first cell and the first mobile user station. Received signal quality of the pilot signal between the first cell and the first mobile user station is detected. At least one predetermined criterion is selected dependent upon data rate of the call, and if it is determining that said signal quality of the pilot signal meets said at least one predetermined criterion, said radio connection is released or established.

  • Patent number: 7075911
Abstract: QoS scheduling is used for handling multiple data flows in packet switched cellular systems, especially in a packet switched mobile telecommunication system, wherein the scheduling mechanism of a specific cell is coupled with the scheduling mechanism of at least one second cell, in particular by transferring data between the specific cell and at least one second cell comprising a status information concerning data flow within the specific cell.

  • Publication number: 20030228871
Abstract: Disclosed is a method for estimating radio resource consumed by a service and its application for overload control provided between nodes and user equipment (UE), particularly in a code-division multiple-access (CDMA) network, comprising the steps of: extracting a first parameter from a common pilot channel (CPiCH) representing the ratio of received energy per chip to the total received power spectral density (EC/I0 CPiCH) and/or a second parameter representing the transmitted power of the common pilot channel (PCPiCH), assigning said first and/or said second parameter to a third parameter such that the third parameter represents the radio resource consumption of the service (Pi/Pmax, Ci).

  • Publication number: 20030142623
Abstract: A new and improved approach is described to avoid problems of overload handling for a random access packet transmission in packet switched mobile networks and in particular, to limit the transmit delay of at least some selected data flows even in case of a long-term overload situation. It is suggested to employ on a respective random access packet transmission channel an admission control functionality depending on a request for the adding of a new data flow and/or to employ on the respective random access packet transmission channel a congestion control functionality depending on varying environments.

  • Publication number: 20030128665
Abstract: A method and apparatus for the scheduling of multiple data flows in a packet switched mobile network is disclosed which provides a new and improved approach to maintain the QoS guarantees of at least some selected data flows even in case of a long term overload situation. Employed are an admission control functionality depending on a request for the adding of a new data flow to be scheduled and/or a congestion control functionality depending on varying environments.

  • Publication number: 20030086415
Abstract: The invention proposes a method for improving network performance of a data packet switched network which encompasses at least one unit for sending data packets, at least one unit for receiving data packets, and at least one network element for controlling and/or monitoring data packet traffic between said sending and said receiving unit whereby in case of at least one redundancy of packet occurs within said network, said redundant packets are filtered out from said network prior to receipt of the receiving unit.
