  • Patent number: 4974295
Abstract: A mote knife arrangement is fitted to a flat of a card or carding machine in a position so as to extend substantially transversely to the carding direction and the mote knife or blade is at an inclination so as to extend in a direction substantially opposite to the carding direction. A steel profile defining the mote knife or blade is provided for the mote knife arrangement. The steel profile is positively and non-slidably retained at a support or carrier which is mountable at the associated flat. The steel profile provided for the mote knife arrangement is retained at the support or carrier by permanent plastic deformation of such support or carrier which has a predetermined profile or sectional shape. The longitudinal direction of the profiled support or carrier also extends substantially transversely to the carding direction.

  • Patent number: 4947522
Abstract: The stationary flat of a card or carding machine having mounting flanges arranged at end surfaces of a carding cylinder is mounted at these mounting flanges by means of spring clips. Each spring clip is constructed as a resilient element comprising a radially extending first limb or leg mounted at the associated mounting flange and a second limb or leg which is bent away at an angle with respect to the first limb or leg, partially extends over the associated stationary flat and bears thereupon.

  • Patent number: 4940367
Abstract: The fiber processing plant has a pneumatic flock feed system which is operated in dependence on an operating parameter which, in turn, is dependent upon the number of fiber processing machines which are operating at a given time. In one embodiment, a meter is disposed in a feed duct of the flock feed system between a fan and a first of the fiber processing machines in order to sense the static pressure therein. The meter is used to sense a difference in pressure caused by one or more fiber processing machines becoming inoperative so as to cause a switching on or off of the fiber supply to the feed duct.

  • Patent number: 4939816
Abstract: A control unit maintains the fiber flock column in a feed chute at a set height. The control unit includes a row of light barriers located about a set height for emitting signals in response to interruption of the light barriers by fiber flock. An evaluation unit evaluates the signals to determine the actual height of the flock column and emits a control signal to adjust the feed rollers in the feed chute.

  • Patent number: 4878784
Abstract: A feed chute arrangement for textile machines, such as carding machines includes a feed chute having a plurality of walls one of which is gas-permeable to let gaseous medium to escape from the interior of the feed chute into a neighboring gas output chamber that is bounded by a plurality of additional walls different from the gas permeable wall. One of these additional walls is provided with an opening at which there is pivotally mounted a plate-shaped blocking flap selectively movable between its closed position and a plurality of open positions in which it offers various amounts of resistance to the flow of the gaseous medium from the gas output chamber through the opening into a connecting conduit and eventually into a discharge passage.

  • Patent number: 4507827
Abstract: The cleaning machine for fiber material has an opening roller provided with clothing. The cleaned fibers are again removed from the clothing into a suction chamber by means of a screening member containing a screening wall provided with a nose. The invention improves the clean separation or detachment of the fiber material from the clothing in comparison with the known arrangements, avoids collection of fibers at the nose of the screening member, and, in particular, requires a smaller quantity of suction air in the suction duct leading away from the suction chamber. To achieve this the mutual spacing of the screening wall and roller envelope or outer surface increases in a direction away from the nose in the direction of rotation of the opening roller towards the rearward end of the screening wall.

  • Patent number: 4505005
Abstract: A grating composed of individual bars is provided for an opening roller serving for cleaning of fibers and provided with clothing. Each bar carries a guide element extending over its length and comprises a guide sheet, the spacing of which from the clothing is settable. For the purpose of adjustment, the guide element comprises a flat band portion which rests on a side surface of the bar, is shiftable substantially parallel to such side surface and is releasably secured to the bar. In known devices, setting of the spacing x of the guide sheet from the clothing is laborious because the accessibility to the position to be measured is difficult. In accordance with the invention this is avoided in that each guide element is additionally provided on the longitudinal side of the flat band portion directed away from the guide sheet with a band portion which is inclined with respect to the flat band portion, extends in the longitudinal direction of its bar and covers the back thereof.
