  • Publication number: 20150318815
Abstract: A combustion, heat-exchange and emitter device (10) for converting chemicals into electro-magnetic radiation and a corresponding method. The device (10) includes a radiation emission section (A) with a selective emitter (1.3) configured for emitting predominantly near-infrared radiation when heated up to high temperatures. A conversion section (B) is arranged adjacent to the radiation emission section (A) and includes a catalytic coating in order to provide for surface specific fuel combustion to maximize heat transfer between a thermal energy carrier (fuel) and the radiation emission section (A). A heat recovery section (F) is configured to transfer excess heat of the thermal energy carrier from an exhaust outlet section (G) to an inlet section (E) to pre-heat the thermal energy carrier (fuel) entering the device (10) therethrough.

  • Publication number: 20150207450
Abstract: An energy conversion and transfer arrangement (10) including a spectral shaper (3) with an input surface (3.X) defining a flow-through heat transfer area (X) and an electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2) arranged within the flow-through heat transfer area (X) to allow for surface specific fuel combustion processes such as catalytic conversion which heat up the emitter to high temperatures. The electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2) is configured for emitting predominantly near-infrared radiation when exposed to high temperature. The spectral shaper (3) is configured as a band pass filter for a first, optimal spectral band of the radiation emitted by the electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2) when exposed to high temperature and/or as a reflector for further, non-optimal spectral band(s) of the radiation emitted by the electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2), so that the second, non-optimal spectral band radiation is recycled as radiation redirected towards the electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2).

  • Publication number: 20150207008
Abstract: A multilayer structure (10) for thermophotovoltaic devices, comprising a heat transfer-emitter unit (2) and a spectral shaper (3). The heat transfer-emitter unit (2) comprising a chamber enclosure (2.1) made of a high temperature resistant material, defining a flow-through heat transfer chamber (2.2); an electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2.3) configured for emitting predominantly near-infrared radiation when exposed to high temperatures. The spectral shaper (3) is arranged adjacent to and thermally connected with said electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2.3), wherein the spectral shaper (3) is configured as a band pass filter for an optimal spectral band of the radiation and as a reflector for further, non-optimal spectral band(s) of the radiation, so that said second, non-optimal spectral band radiation is recycled as radiation redirected towards the electro-magnetic radiation emitter (2.3).

  • Publication number: 20080156465
Abstract: A method of cooling a first airstream employs the steps of dehumidifying a second airstream, injecting water into the dehumidified airstream so as to cool the second airstream, and passing the first and the cooled second airstream through a heat exchanger so as to cool the first airstream. In so doing, the condensate recovered during the dehumidification of the second and/or first airstream is used in the injection step.

  • Publication number: 20070298704
Abstract: A cabinet combination section has a ventilation device. The ventilation device has a first air duct for conditioning outdoor air and supplying the conditioned air as supply air to a room and a second air duct for removing return air from the room and discharge the return air as exhaust air to the environment. The ventilation device comprises various components including a fan. The components are situated in the first air duct and/or in the second air duct. The cabinet combination section has a lower section, a middle section and an upper section lying on top of another. The components of the ventilation device are situated in the lower section and/or the upper section of the cabinet combination section.

  • Publication number: 20060191413
Abstract: The invention relates to a plate heat exchanger for exchanging heat between a first air stream (11, 12) and a second air stream (13, 14) comprising a plurality of plates (1) limiting exchange chambers which are serially arranged in a transversal direction with respect to said plates (1). The first air stream passes through one part of the exchange chambers (11, 12), the second air stream passes through the other exchange chambers (13, 14), preferably in an opposite direction. The second air stream consists of the air (13) removed from ventilated premises. A water distribution system (20, 21) is used for supplying water to the exchange chambers of the second air stream (13, 14) in such a way that the removed air is cooled by contact and evaporation, thereby lowering the external air temperature.
