  • Patent number: 7869359
Abstract: A method and a system for optimizing the routing of data to be communicated in a network. In one embodiment, the system achieves an improved control for routing of data traffic in a network by minimizing link costs between nodes of the network.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 15, 2001
Date of Patent: January 11, 2011
Inventors: Stefan Köhler, Dirk Staehle, Ute Kohlhaas, Phuoc Tran-Gia
  • Patent number: 7633873
Abstract: Routing is one of the key issues in networks for communication of data. Conventionally, the optimization of the routing for a particular network is achieved by improving/changing/expanding the routing protocol. In order to optimize the routing of data networks without varying existing routing protocols, the present invention provides a method and a system for optimizing the routing of data to be communicated in a network. In particular, the invention achieves a homogeneous distribution of data communication traffic in a network by a minimization of the maximum link utilization and/or a minimization of the average link utilization of data links between nodes of the network.
    Type: Grant
    Filed: March 15, 2000
Date of Patent: December 15, 2009
Inventors: Stefan Köhler, Dirk Staehle, Ute Kohlhaas, Phuoc Tran-Gia
