Abstract: An access point has a connection to a wide area network, and is configured to allow a device to connect thereto, and includes an Application Programming Interface for allowing a remote application to connect to the access point over the wide area network, and to obtain information relating to the device connected to the access point. In particular, the access point is configured to allow a device to connect thereto over a wireless interface, and to provide bearer translation such that traffic over the wireless interface can be directed over the wide area network. The Application Programming Interface may then allow the application to obtain information relating to a connection status of a wireless device associated with the access point.
