  • Patent number: 4860969
Abstract: An airborne body possessing an over-caliber sized guidance mechanism having control surfaces which are retracted into the structure of the airborne body and arrested therein at their end surfaces through a securing arrangement so as to be released for outward extension into the operative position of the guidance mechanism in dependence upon an acceleration in the firing or launching direction. The airborne body is equipped with a pusher rod or ram which concurrently engages into all control surfaces and which is axially displaceable relative to the structure of the airborne body, and which upon a reduction in the acceleration of the airborne body in the launching direction, is disengaged from the control surfaces.

  • Patent number: 4646642
Abstract: A separating arrangement between multipart constructional elements, including an expansion chamber for at least one pyrotechnic charge which is bounded by the piston surface of a displacement or sliding piston. The separating arrangement has at least one gas passageway which communicates with the expansion chamber, through the intermediary of which a separating piston can be subjected to pressure. The combustion gas pressure of the pyrotechnic charges acts within the expansion chamber against different piston surfaces and thereby, in a constructively predeterminable manner, effects different successive piston movements, as a result of which the sequence of the individual separating operations which can be carried out in different directions predeterminably in a definite manner and functionally-dependent.

  • Patent number: 4458594
Abstract: In small-caliber, barreled-weapon ammunition with head or base fuses, detonator safety is achieved in that the inadvertantly ignited detonator which is a secure position within a rotor remains without effect on an intensifying charge. Measures are provided for the gas to expand within the fuse and the energy of the rotor fragments used up so that the gas expanding direction and the flight direction of the fragments face away from the explosives of the intensifying charge. Expansion chambers are formed by recesses in the fuse for safety devices adjacent the rotor, such as different centrifugal force-dependent safety devices for the firing pin which are separated from each other by breaking locations destroyable by the gas.

  • Patent number: 4280408
Abstract: A projectile with a penetrating member, in which a pyrotechnic composition is arranged ahead of and rearwardly of the penetrating member. The forward composition, preferably incendiary, is encompassed by a ballistic hood, the rearward composition being at least partially of explosive material is detonatable by an impact detonator. The head portion of the penetrating member is formed of two regions having different slopes to increase the activity of the projectile at flat striking angles against a target. The two regions are separated by a sharp-edged gripping edge. The penetrating member may also include in the interior thereof a plug of a pyrophorically acting metal or alloy.
