  • Patent number: 10508652
Abstract: An axial fan for conveying cooling air, in particular for an internal combustion engine of a motor vehicle. The axial fan includes a hub, on which a plurality of fan blades extending radially outward is arranged, which each have a rear blade edge. In the case of an axial fan having an optimal relationship between efficiency and flow output, a contour of the rear blade edge of the fan blades extends curved in a circumferential direction with respect to a plane spanned by an axis of rotation of the axial fan and a longitudinal extent of the fan blade.

  • Patent number: 6726454
Abstract: An axial-flow fan (1) is arranged on a viscous coupling (4). Fin-like stabilizers (5) are provided in the region of the blade roots, that is to say in the hub region, and these fin-like stabilizers (5) segregate the hub flow and the blade flow. In addition, a radial blade element (6) can be provided and are assigned in each case to these stabilizers and can be integrated with the surface of the stabilizer (5) to form a common surface. These special flow-conducting elements can favorably influence the fan flow in its hub region in such a way as to improve the fan output.

  • Patent number: 6382915
Abstract: The invention relates to an axial fan, in particular for radiators of motor vehicles, the axial blades being fastened to a fan hub, and the fan hub in turn being connected to a viscous fluid friction clutch. According to the invention, air-guide elements or guide blades are arranged in the hub region on the front side or suction side of the axial fan. These air-guide elements or guide blades deflect the flow from the front side to the rear side of the blades and thereby stabilize the flow. To further improve the flow conditions, the hub region is covered by a cap on its front side.

  • Patent number: 5645401
Abstract: An axial fan is known whose fan hub is fastened by means of a fan flange on a clutch housing of a fluid friction clutch while leaving an annular gap for a partial flow assigned to the cooling fins of the clutch housing. In the case of such axial fans, swirls occur in the hub area which reduce the efficiency of the fan. According to the invention, for achieving an improved efficiency, an air guiding ring is provided on the fan hub on an inlet side relating to a flow direction of the venting flow, which air guiding ring has a curved profile which is directed axially opposite to the flow direction and is curved radially to the inside.
