  • Patent number: 11975587
Abstract: A method for operating a pressure control system in a vehicle includes controlling a flow-control valve in a charging line, which conveys a charging pressure medium, in dependence upon an admission pressure and/or upon an admission volume flow. The admission pressure and/or the admission volume flow characterizes a prevailing or currently to be expected loading of a pneumatic consumer of the pressure control system during the supply of the charging pressure medium with a charging volume flow and at a charging pressure into the pneumatic consumer. The method further includes adjusting a flow-control cross-section, which acts on the charging pressure medium as it flows through the flow-control valve, or adjusting an average flow-control cross-section so as to limit the charging volume flow to a limit volume flow. The method additionally includes outputting the volume-flow limited charging pressure medium to the pneumatic consumer.

  • Patent number: 9151313
Abstract: The invention proposes a blind fastening element, which is constructed similarly to a screw. The fastening element thus has a head (1), which is disposed on one end of the shaft (3) and has a contact surface, which faces toward the shaft, for contact on the object to be fastened. On the opposite front end, the fastening element has a punch face (7), which runs approximately transversely to the longitudinal axis and is enclosed by a closed punch edge (8). The diameter of said punch face is less than the diameter of the shaft, for example, the diameter is in the range of approximately 70% to 30% of the diameter of the shaft. The shaft itself may be smooth on its exterior, if the fastening element is to be used as a blind rivet, or may have a thread (9), however, if the fastening element is to be fastened after the punch procedure by rotating.

  • Patent number: 8707539
Abstract: A gun rivet and a device for placing said rivet are disclosed. The gun rivet contains a rivet head (1) with a collar (3) at one end and a rivet tip (6) at the other. The rivet body contains a cavity (7) in the form of a bore in a sleeve section (22). As with other gun rivets, the gun rivet is shot with a percussive-type action and with the aid of its rivet tip into an opening in two sheets (13, 14) that are to be joined together, until the collar comes to rest on the upper face of the upper sheet. A tensile bolt is then introduced into the cavity and is connected to the base (8) of the latter. This can be achieved by resistance welding. The tensile bolt is then drawn until a rivet head is formed on the opposite side of the two sheets. The tensile bolt is then detached from the gun rivet, for example by shearing. The tensile bolt can be re-used to place another rivet.

  • Patent number: 8496419
Abstract: The invention relates to a blind rivet and a rivet pin that is connected or can be connected to the tool and is used to apply the blind rivet. Said rivet pin can be connected, by means of a rivet positioning tool, to a part of the blind rivet designed for said tool. When the blind rivet is inserted into a hole up to the abutment of an abutment shoulder formed on a flange, said contact place can be lengthened by means of the rivet pin acting as a traction element, in order to deform the rivet pin such that it fixes in the opening.

  • Publication number: 20130149070
Abstract: A fastening element, which may be in the form of a blind rivet or a screw, is intended to be driven into an unperforated workpiece. In its front region that is intended to be driven into the workpiece, it includes a punching tip which is formed in a cylindrical manner and has a front end face which extends obliquely to the longitudinal axis. The punching tip may be smaller in diameter than the body of the fastening element or else have the same diameter. The section between the end face and the outer side of the punching tip forms a circumferential edge. On account of the oblique profile of the end face, this circumferential edge is arranged such that when the fastening element is driven in, the circumferential edge first of all strikes the metal sheet at one or at two points and the opening in the metal sheet is enlarged by shearing of the metal sheet at a point that moves around the circumference.

Abstract: A fastening element, which may be in the form of a blind rivet or screw, is intended to be fired into an unperforated workpiece. In its front region that is intended to be fired into the workpiece, it includes a punching section which is formed in a cylindrical manner, and has a front end face which extends obliquely to the longitudinal axis. The punching section may be smaller in diameter than the body of the fastening element or else have the same diameter. On account of the oblique profile of the end face, said punching edge is arranged such that, when the fastening element is fired in, the punching edge first of all strikes the metal sheet at one or else at two points, and the opening in the metal sheet is enlarged by shearing off the metal sheet at a point migrating around the circumference.

  • Publication number: 20130011216
Abstract: A drive formation for a rotary drive, for example a depression in the end face of a screw, has two regions with different cross-sections, but with a cross-sectional form having a certain similarity, arranged axially in succession. Due to the smaller cross section with a similar cross-sectional form, the transfer of torque can be better adapted to the form of a counter-sunk head of a countersunk head screw. The cross-sectional form corresponds to a central circular core with wing-like attachments attached thereto and protruding radially beyond the outer face of the core. The wings have side walls extending approximately parallel to one another in cross section, and therefore the wings have at least approximately the same thickness as far as their end forming an end wall. Said wings also have the same thickness when viewed over the depth of the formation, and therefore no forces causing the tool to be pushed out are produced.

A device for placing a rivet of this type contains a part that can be pushed forwards with a percussive-type action, this part consisting of a hammer for exerting pressure on the expansion body.

  • Patent number: 7389802
Abstract: A pneumatic tire with a double layer innerliner structure bonded to an inner face of the tire carcass for reducing noise generated by air vibrations inside of the tire's air chamber, and a method of making the tire. The double layer structure includes a first innerliner layer of non-foamed rubber adjacent the carcass and a second innerliner layer of foamed porous rubber forming an innermost surface of the tire. The foamed porous rubber is formed by curing a rubber composition having a nitrogen-releasing foaming agent dispersed therein that decomposes at the vulcanization temperature to release nitrogen gas. The second innerliner layer further has an open-celled structure with a plurality of open cavities that are formed by physically altering the innermost surface of the foamed innerliner layer.
