The frequency converter comprises an input-side, uncontrolled bridge rectifier, a DC voltage intermediate circuit and an output-side inverter. According to the invention, the DC voltage intermediate circuit furthermore comprises a DC-to-DC converter with galvanic isolation, with the result that electrical isolation between the bridge rectifier and the inverter is produced.
