  • Patent number: 4674369
Abstract: An underfloor wheelset turning machine is described for reprofiling the wheel tire contours (34) of railway wheelsets (6). The machine comprises two turning supports (27, 28) and four driven friction rollers (9, 10,11,12), of which each pair of rollers is adapted to be pressed with in each case a peripheral face (57,58, 60,61) onto a wheel tire. The friction rollers (9,10,11,12) are pivotal individually each about a pivot axis (50,51,52,53) disposed parallel to the wheelset axle (41). The peripheral faces (60, 61) of two friction rollers (11,12) are disposed further from the wheelset center (64) compared with the peripheral faces (57, 58) of the other two friction rollers (9, 10).

  • Patent number: 4674370
Abstract: An underfloor wheelset turning machine for reprofiling the wheel tire contours of railway wheelsets comprising two driven friction roller pairs each adapted to be pressed against a wheel tire contour of a wheelset, the friction rollers of each friction roller pair being individually connected in each case to a pivot drive and each pivotal about a pivot axis arranged parallel to the wheelset axle, is distinguished for uniform application of the friction rollers and automatic alignment of the wheelset axle in that each pivot drive (13, 14, 15, 16) comprises a pneumatic bellows cylinder (76, 77, 78, 79) for producing the pivot movement and that in each case two pivot drives (13, 14, 15, 16) associated with a friction roller pair (11, 12) are coupled to a synchronizing means (80, 81).

  • Patent number: 4669292
Abstract: An underfloor wheel set barring machine for retreading of wheel rim circumferences of railroad wheel sets. Two driven pairs of friction rollers can be pressed against a wheel rim circumference with the friction rollers of each pair being arranged to pivot parallel to the axis of the wheel set. A drive motor has first and second smooth belt drives having a common drive wheel driven by the motor. Each belt drive has an output wheel driving an input gear of a spur gear system. Two spur gear systems have upward members respectively driving the friction rollers. The output of each belt drive is coaxially arranged with the axis of its associated friction roller.
