  • Patent number: 5137169
Abstract: In thermal insulation devices which include a molded part formed of thermal insulation material and a metal housing enclosing the molded part, an evacuation of the thermal insulation device with the aid of a vacuum pump requires a relatively long pumping time. The invention proposes providing groove-like recesses in the molded part for reducing the suction resistance. The groove-like recesses form suction channels together with the wall of the metal housing. Such vacuum thermal insulation devices are used, for example, for thermally insulating high-temperature batteries.

  • Patent number: 4377199
Abstract: Component for a heat exchanger which exchanges heat between the environment and a liquid, having at least one tube for receiving the liquid, and at least one heat exchange surface heat-conductively connected to the tube, the heat exchange surface including a multiplicity of plate elements fastened to the tube, the plate elements being disposed in a row side by side and overlapping each other in adjoining regions.

  • Patent number: 4079620
Abstract: A method and apparatus for locating defective fuel rods of a liquid cooled reactor core wherein the rods have end caps and defective rods collect leakage liquid from the core in the end caps, includes heating the end caps of a plurality of rods to evaporate the leakage liquid, measuring the temperatures of the end caps of the plurality of rods, and simultaneously indicating the temperature differences between defective and non-defective rods. The rods are supported in a container filled with a liquid and the upper ends of the rods and end caps are enclosed within the container in a dry heated temperature. The apparatus includes means for heating the end caps, means for measuring the temperatures and means for simultaneously indicating the temperatures and temperature differences.
