  • Patent number: 6536830
Abstract: A convertible top for a vehicle, especially a motor vehicle, has a convertible top frame assembly pivotably mounted on convertible top bearings located on the body. A working cylinder composed of a cylinder and a piston rod is mounted on the top frame assembly adjacent to at least one top bearing to open and close the convertible top. Both ends of the piston rod of the working cylinder are permanently mounted on the top bearing and the cylinder and movably mounted on the piston rod, is operationally linked with a drive lever that opens and closes the folding top, oil is supplied under pressure to the working cylinder through bores in the stationary piston rod.

  • Patent number: 6168224
Abstract: A top storage compartment lid for a motor vehicle is associated with a rear receiving area for accommodating a stored top, and can be moved by means of a drive device from a closed position into a raised open position. The top storage compartment lid can be secured in the closed position by means of at least one releasable locking device on the fixed body. The drive device for the positioning movement of the top storage compartment lid is mechanically coupled with the locking device, and thus serves for both locking and unlocking the top storage compartment lid.

  • Patent number: 5921608
Abstract: A cover flap assembly is provided for a passage opening in a side wall of a vehicle situated above a folding top base. During the swivelling-out of a folding top deposited in an assigned folding top compartment, the cover flap can be changed from a covering position into an upright release position. The covering flap is in an operative connection with a carriage-type guiding device and extends in its upright release position in a sunk-in manner below the passage opening of the side wall.

  • Patent number: 5868454
Abstract: A folding convertible top for a vehicle is held in its closed position on the adjoining windshield frame by locking arrangement and, after the release of the locking arrangement can be displaced into a rear-side deposited position. The locking arrangement comprises a locking element with a locking hook arranged on a forward folding top section as well as at least one centering device which acts between the folding top and the windshield frame, and has projecting centering elements arranged on the forward folding top section. A detent device is provided for fixing the folded-back folding top, and the locking element with the locking hook arranged on the forward folding top section and the centering elements also provided on the forward folding top section also form operating parts of the rear-side detent device.

  • Patent number: 5671947
Abstract: A motor vehicle, particularly a convertible, has a folding top and a rollover protection device which is arranged behind the seats and which comprises at least one prefabricated cassette. The cassette contains a protective bow and an actuator, and a rollover sensor, the prefabricated cassette being fixable on a receiving device. For reducing the mounting time on the vehicle belt as well as for making it possible to test the rollover protection device outside the vehicle, it is provided that the receiving device and at least the components of the rollover protection device are combined to form a precabled operative module which is produced outside the vehicle.
