  • Publication number: 20090071028
Abstract: A device for retaining material for drying in a static position within a drying device with a preferably rotating drum. The material for drying may be positioned such that the surface of the material for drying exposed to a dry air stream is maximized. A spacer with an at least partly flexible embodiment is provided, on which the material for drying may be arranged and which may be placed in an essentially curved form, along with the material for drying, such that overlapping regions of the material for drying are arranged at a radial separation from each other.

  • Publication number: 20080110042
Abstract: A method and a device for drying wet washing that has been placed in a drier device equipped with a rotatable drum. The stream of drying air is guided in such a way that the surface of the washing to be dried that is exposed to said stream is maximised. To achieve this, the invention provides a washing spacer, at least some sections of which are flexible and on which the washing to be dried can be placed. The spacer can then be rolled up together with the washing to be dried into a preferably cylindrical form. The washing spacer and the wet washing, which is rolled with a radial distance between its layers, is connected in an air-conductive, sealed manner to the extraction opening, allowing the stream of drying air to be guided through the washing spacer and the washing to be dried. Said method is extremely effective and reduces the drying times.

  • Patent number: 6462564
Abstract: A method for determining a load in a tumble dryer. Initially, laundry is moved in a laundry drum and the electrical conductivity of the laundry is determined by electrodes residing in the laundry drum. The method is distinguished by the fact that a range of fluctuation of the electrical conductivity is determined and serves as a measure of the load. As a result, the determination of the load can be carried out without an additional outlay for components and circuitry in the case in which a conductivity measurement is already implemented in the tumble dryer. The method is particularly suitable to be carried out by a microcontroller.

  • Patent number: 6158148
Abstract: The method detects impermissible operating states in a hot-air clothes dryer with a laundry drum. The temperature in the incoming air flow is detected periodically downstream of an incoming air heater and upstream of the drum. A differential value (difference value or gradient) is formed from two successively detected values. The differential value is compared with a predetermined differential value, and if the newly formed differential value is absolutely greater than the predetermined differential value, then a counting value is incremented by one step. The counting value is compared with a predetermined counting value and, if the current counting value is greater than the predetermined counting value, then the heating of the dryer is turned off and/or an operating state display is activated.

  • Patent number: 6055744
Abstract: A method for detecting impermissible operating states in electronically controlled tumble dryers, in particular the state of motion of a laundry drum. In the method, the electrical conductivity of the laundry is determined by electrodes which touch the laundry, at least from time to time. The method is distinguished by the fact that, during the drying operation, the conductivity is periodically measured. The currently measured conductivity value is compared with at least one previously measured conductivity value and, if changes in conductivity that are determined from the compared values over a multi-period interval corresponds to a preset low range of fluctuation, an indication is given that the laundry drum is stationary.
