Abstract: The invention concerns a drafting head for a drafting machine, with a gring member (4) having several actuating elements (6, 8, 10) arranged on the gripping member (4) and capable of being actuated by a hand of the user that is resting on the gripping member (4) for the purpose of executing various switching statuses, as for example, disengaging, free- (unrestricted) switching, secured braking (locking) of the normal side, respectively for releasing the locking of the normal side of the drafting head (1). Provided here is at least one actuating element (6, 8) for disengaging and/or free-switching of the normal side of the drafting head (1), and one actuating element (10) for locking the normal side of the drafting head (1). Actuating element (10) for locking is arranged on the gripping member (4) such that it rests against the inner surface of the ball of the thumb of the user hand resting on the gripping member (4).

Abstract: A drawing head for a drawing machine has a base plate with a central bore. he base plate is nonrotatably attached to the drawing machine. A rotatable straightedge support under the base plate has a central pin extending through the central bore. A nonrotatable cover plate is mounted on the pin with a gripping knob above the base plate. A spacing ring is rotatably positioned between the base plate and the cover plate. Locking devices are provided for releasably retaining the straightedge support with respect to the spacing ring and for releasably retaining the spacing ring with respect to the base plate. It is thereby possible to reduce the overall height of the drawing head while maintaining the bearing precision, and to thus achieve lower costs for production and assembly of the drawing head. Bearing means are provided whereby the central pin which engages the bore of the base plate is axially supported and rotatably positioned therein to firmly support the spacing ring.

Abstract: A drawing head has a base plate which has a central bore and which is rotbly mounted on a drawing machine. A straightedge support assembly includes a straightedge support mounted on a rotatable pin in the central bore. A cover plate is nonrotatably mounted on the pin and supports a gripping knob. A spacing ring is rotatably mounted about the central axis between the base plate and the cover plate. Normal side locking means serve to releasably retain the straightedge support assembly with respect to the spacing ring, and base side locking means serve to releasably retain the spacing ring with respect to the base plate. Each of the locking means has a locking pawl which is pivotally positioned about an axis parallel to the central axis of rotation without play by means of a pivot jaw assembly and which engages and disengages a spring-loaded locking tooth against a locking disc secured with respect to the spacing ring.
