  • Publication number: 20110005606
Abstract: A device includes a number of N?2 pump chambers having N separate chamber volumes, each of which may be altered independently of the other(s). The volume changes of the pump chambers occur periodically with substantially the same frequency (f). The device further includes N actuators for changing the respective chamber volumes and valves for establishing the pumping direction, and finally a common inlet and outlet. The pump chambers of the device are disposed in series one behind the other, and the forms of the periods of volume changes of all pump chambers are substantially identical. Moreover, an ideal phase offset PHI of approximately 180° exists between the volume change of the chamber volumes of two sequential pump chambers.

  • Publication number: 20090314850
Abstract: A method for atomizing active substances contained in a liquid, where: the method uses electrohydrodynamic means with at least one nozzle and at least one electrode, the nozzle and the electrode being formed and/or arranged in such a way and a voltage that is applied to the electrode being selected in such a way that a molecularization of the active substances contained in the liquid takes place and parasitic effects and/or disturbing influences that occur during the atomization, and in particular production of ozone, are reduced to the greatest extent. A nozzle for use in the method, where: an outer capillary tube of nonconducting material and an electrode in wire form arranged in the capillary tube, wherein the capillary tube and/or the electrode are formed and/or arranged in such a way that, during operation of the nozzle and atomization of the active substances contained in the liquid, the electrode is constantly wetted and no oxygen from the ambient air has contact with the surface of the electrode.

  • Publication number: 20090310434
Abstract: Method for high-precision metering and/or mixing of liquids, having electrical means for production of an electrostatic field using the electrospray effect, with a liquid being metered, and means for weight determination, in which the means for weight determination are used in order to meter the amount of liquid. The method for high-precision metering and/or mixing of liquids also has a combination of first and second metering means. The first metering means comprises mechanical means for reducing the volume of a liquid reservoir, and the second metering means comprises the electrical means for production of an electrical field using the electrospray effect, and a combination of first and second control means for controlling the magnitude of the metered liquid. The first control means comprises means for determining the volume of the reservoir and the second control means comprises the means for determining the weight of the metered liquid.
