  • Publication number: 20040209538
Abstract: In surgery, mesh-shaped implants, so-called meshes, are used for supporting damaged body parts that are to be closed. These usually consist of multifilament polymers, more specifically of polyester and polypropylene. Post-surgery complications are frequent, though. The implant also becomes encapsulated as a foreign body within the tissue.
