Patent number: 9297344Abstract: A fuel injection valve for an internal combustion engine may include an injector body having a receiving hole for an injector needle. The receiving hole may be implemented as a blind hole and may form an injector ring chamber in the injector shaft and a cone-shaped valve seat at the base thereof, and a blind injector hole at the tip of the valve seat cone, from which at least one injector hole extends. The injector needle may include an at least partially cone-shaped needle tip and may seal off the blind injector hole, and thus the at least one injector hole, from the injector ring chamber. The needle tip may include a needle pilot adapted in contour and extent to the blind injector hole in the valve seat, the pilot protruding into the blind injector hole and thus reducing a compression volume formed between the valve seat and injector hole.Type: GrantFiled: September 16, 2010Date of Patent: March 29, 2016Assignee: CONTINENTAL AUTOMOTIVE GMBHInventors: Wolfgang Gerber, Thomas Hofmann, Uwe Leuteritz

Patent number: 8087598Abstract: A nozzle module for an injection valve has a nozzle body with a recess with a wall, being operable to hydraulically couple the recess to a high pressure fluid circuit, a seal seat embodied on the wall, at least one nozzle needle arranged in an axially moveable fashion in the recess. The needle has a seat area with a sealing surface interacting with the seal seat to open and close the valve, respectively, and a supporting area, arranged radially outside and axially at a distance from the seat area and supporting the needle against the wall when the needle closes. The needle has at least one needle recess, which when the supporting area rests against the wall of the body recess, an area of the body recess facing axially away from the seat area is hydraulically coupled to an area of the body recess which axially faces the seat area.Type: GrantFiled: June 24, 2009Date of Patent: January 3, 2012Assignee: Continental Automotive GmbHInventors: Uwe Leuteritz, Ferdinand Löbbering

Publication number: 20040075003Abstract: A device and method for atomizing a liquid medium, including an electrically conductive nozzle body with an internal volume for holding the liquid medium, at least one nozzle opening as well as a high-voltage electrode arranged inside the internal volume coaxially to a longitudinal axis of the nozzle body. The high-voltage electrode is provided in the area of its greatest lateral expansion with a circumferential, sharp edge that extends at a small distance to the nozzle body in order to be able to bring about the electrostatic charging of the passing liquid medium. This construction enables the electrostatic atomization in a simple manner even for multi-hole nozzles, so that the electrostatic atomization also can be used in the field of gas turbine technology for improving the injection in the start-up and partial load range.Type: ApplicationFiled: November 13, 2003Publication date: April 22, 2004Applicant: ALSTOM (Switzerland) Ltd.Inventors: Uwe Leuteritz, Bruno Schuermans, Christian Steinbach, Wolfgang Weisenstein
