  • Publication number: 20100253016
Abstract: A collet adapter includes a spindle adapter body configured to removably mount to a non-collet-ready spindle of a machine (e.g., a lathe or machining center). The spindle adapter body has a collet seat configured to mate with a collet. The adapter also includes an adapter collar configured to removably mount to the spindle adapter. When the collar is mounted to the adapter body, it facilitates secure attachment of a device with a spindle mount to the machine via an enlarged mounting shoulder of the collar. The collar can be removed to provide improved radial access to a work piece being held by the spindle adapter body and a non-step collet.

  • Patent number: 7469484
Abstract: A device and a method are disclosed for centrally tightening rotatingly drivable parts. The device comprises at least three units for clamping and adjusting a part, wherein at least two of the units comprise an actuator allowing controlled adjustment in radial direction according to a control value. A measuring device is provided to detect deviations of the part from concentricity with respect to a rotary drive axis. A computer is used for controlling the actuators to effect concentricity of the part, the computer being responsive to deviations from concentricity detected by said measuring device.

  • Patent number: 6588452
Abstract: A coupling device for transferring fluid pressure from a first coupling element to a second coupling element is disclosed, wherein both coupling elements have end faces facing each other which can be moved against each other. Each coupling element comprises a cavity that runs into an opening at the end face and which may be coupled with the cavity of the other coupling element for transferring fluid. In each cavity, a piston is guided movably in axial direction, wherein both cavities have sealing surfaces facing toward the other coupling element that communicate with the opening of the end face and against which the respective piston can be moved with a counter surface for sealing. Each of both pistons is biased toward the other piston by a spring into a sealing position in which the piston rests with its counter surface against the sealing surface.

  • Patent number: 5992860
Abstract: A chucking device for mounting a tool on a machine tool is provided, having a mounting section for mounting the chucking device on the machine tool and a thermally expandable shrink section which comprises a holding section intended to receive the tool in shrink-fit relationship. A lead-in section is provided at the outer end of the shrink section, whose inner diameter is selected to ensure that the shank of the tool can be placed in the lead-in section and can be centered therein in a cold condition of the shrink section. A suitable rotatably driven mounting intended to receive the chucking device during clamping of the tool is provided, preferably in vertical arrangement, in order to ensure that the shank of the tool will slide into the holding section from above under the action of gravity.

  • Patent number: 5280671
Abstract: The invention indicates a device and a process for clamping tools in a clamping chuck which possesses a shrinkage segment (14) to receive the tool, with a heating apparatus (26), preferably designed as a gas burner, being associated with the shrinkage segment (14). The tool is clamped in the clamping chuck (20) with a press fit in the shrinkage seat, resulting in especially high clamping force. To prevent local overheating of the clamping chuck (20) and achieve complete insertion of the tool shaft into the thermally expanded shrinkage segment (14) of the clamping chuck (20), a receiving apparatus (40)--by means of which, for clamping purposes, the tool can be elastically pressed in the axial direction against the shrinkage segment (14)--is provided to receive the tool.
