  • Patent number: 6288467
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotor for an electrical machine, specially a transversal flow machine, having at least one pole structure. The pole structure encompasses two adjacent rows of magnet arrangements which are alternatively magnetized in the peripheral direction. The rows are separated by an intermediate layer made of magnetically and electrically non-conductive material (intermediate ring). The magnet arrangements having of inter-lying collector and soft iron elements. The magnet arrangements interlock with adjacent collector or soft iron elements in the peripheral direction. The collector or soft magnet elements are at least partially provided with an insulating layer. The invention is characterized in that at least one of the collector or soft iron elements that is adjacent in the periphery of the magnet arrangement is devoid of a radially external stop providing at least indirect support for the magnet arrangements in radial direction.

  • Patent number: 5889348
Abstract: The invention relates to a rotor for an electric machine, specifically a transverse flow machine, comprising at least one support disk and at least one annular pole structure arranged on an end face of the support disk, coaxial to the rotor axis, and extending in axial direction. The pole structure comprises two adjacent rows, separated by an intermediate layer of magnetically and electrically nonconducting material (spacer ring), of the peripheral direction alternately magnetized magnet arrays with interposed collector or soft-iron elements. An end ring is coordinated with each pole structure. A plurality of magnet arrays features an inner and an outer magnet. The design of the collector or soft-iron elements adjoining a magnet array in the peripheral direction is such that they form in radial direction an inner stop and an outer stop for the magnet array. The invention is characterized in that an intermediate element is coordinated with a plurality of magnet arrays.

  • Patent number: 4077502
Abstract: A hydrodynamic-mechanical vehicle drive wherein an engine drives the primary portion of an input clutch whose secondary portion can receive torque with varying degrees of slip and rotates the pump of a counter-rotating hydrodynamic torque converter, either directly or through the medium of a differential. The turbine of the converter is adjacent to the inlet side of the pump and drives the input shaft of a reversing gearing which utilizes a friction clutch to drive the take-off shaft forwardly and a friction brake to drive the take-off shaft in reverse. The turbine and the pump rotate in the same direction during hydrodynamic braking and the pump is then rotated at a speed which depends on the degree of slip of primary portion of the input clutch relative to the secondary portion.
