Abstract: The present invention relates to communication system comprising first and second communication devices (11,12) each capable of communicating with a telecommunications network (10), and both being connectable to each other by a data link (17) for information transfer and to a method for operating the same. The first communication device (11) contains individual information, and the second communication device (12) comprises a special memory area (21) for storing individual information acquired from the first communication device (11). To enable an improved and facilitated usage of the system comparator means (22) for comparing the individual information contained in the first communication device (11) with that stored in the special memory area (21) of the second communication (12) device are provided.

At a program creating side desired information from information provided at an information providing site (13) is chosen by means of a peripheral device (10) for selecting and receiving information from the information providing site (13). Upon receiving chosen information is stored in a memory means (17). At a program presenting side information from the information stored in the memory means (17) is selected and presented as audio information. The provides a method and a system that is easy to use at low costs.

Abstract: When a motor vehicle (1) is being driven, traffic information (5) which relates exclusively to its individual route of travel can be transmitted to the vehicle driver. Traffic information which does not apply to this area is suppressed. The traffic information is selected automatically and as a function of a time-dependent movement profile of the motor vehicle. The respective areas for which traffic information is desired thus no longer need be predetermined manually, so that no time-consuming setting processes are involved, and safety while driving is increased.

The data are then transmitted via a data transmission system to a central point, with the possibility of verification of the appropriate charge.

Abstract: In the proposed method of determining toll charges for vehicles using a traffic route, a radiolocation system is used to compare a vehicle's geographical location continuously with the geographical location of virtual collection points. The virtual collection points are formed by data acquisition sectors extending over predetermined distances in the direction of each route.
