The present invention provides a foil transfer device that includes a substrate on the press cylinder that has a reduced adhesiveness relative to the transfer foil.

In a foil transfer module (2), the carrier foil with the coating in image form is then brought into contact with the print sheet using contact pressure, so that the coating adheres to the adhesive pints and an image is produced. To improve the function, simplify the device and increase the flexibility of the method, a transfer cylinder (3) is provided with a covering that has a variable cover thickness (25), in order to adapt the surface speed of the transfer cylinder (3).

    Abstract: A device for transferring an image-forming layer from a transfer film to a printing sheet, including an applicator unit for applying a coating of glue in the form of an image to the printing sheet; and a coating unit including an impression cylinder for guiding the printed sheet with the coating of glue facing away from the impression cylinder, and a pressure roller for guiding the transfer film with the image-forming layer facing away from the pressure roller. The impression cylinder and the pressure roller form a transfer gap therebetween so that the transfer film and the printing sheet are pressed against each other when guided through the transfer gap so that the image-forming layer remains adhered to the printing sheet in the area of the coating of glue and is lifted off from the transfer film after leaving the transfer gap. A process is also disclosed.

More specifically, each of the coating units has a rotatable applicator roller, a metering system for applying coating fluid to the applicator roller, and a cleaning wiper system which is movable into and out of contact with the applicator roller. The cleaning wiper is arranged upstream of the metering system relative to a direction of rotation of the applicator roller.

The apparatus of the printing machine includes a guard plate connected to the frame and moveable between a first position which impedes access to the interior of the printing machine and a second position which allows access to the interior of the printing machine. The apparatus further includes a support bracket pivotally connected to the guard plate and articulating means for permitting movement of the support bracket with respect to the guard plate between a first, essentially vertical position supporting the printing plate in a ready position and a second, inclined position for feeding the printing plate to the printing machine.
