Patent number: 8098862Abstract: Provisions to charge the battery of a hearing apparatus without having to remove the battery from the housing are provided. A hearing apparatus separates charging contacts, which are disposed on the surface of the housing and serve to charge the battery, from the battery and to connect the battery to an amplifier circuit, when the battery is not being charged. Otherwise, when the battery is being charged, the hearing apparatus connects the charging contacts to the battery and separates the battery from the amplifier circuit. This double switching function means that the amplifier circuit is protected from charging power surges and also in the normal operating state of the hearing apparatus electrochemical reactions at the charging contacts are avoided.Type: GrantFiled: March 20, 2008Date of Patent: January 17, 2012Assignee: Siemens Audiologische Technik GmbHInventors: Frank Koch, Thomas Lotter, Uwe Rass

Publication number: 20110286616Abstract: Hearing devices and, more particularly hearing aids, can be inserted into the auditory canal in an improved fashion. A hearing device has a first unit, which can be completely inserted within a human auditory canal. The first unit has a first housing into which a sound-recording element, a receiver and, connected therebetween, an amplifier are integrated. The hearing device moreover has a second unit, which is outside of the first housing and can be inserted into the human auditory canal in addition to the first unit. The second unit is galvanically connected to the first unit and configured for wireless energy absorption and for supplying the first unit with current. Hence, the first unit, together with the second unit, does not require a battery as an energy source and can thus have a smaller configuration, and therefore it can optionally be introduced further into the auditory canal.Type: ApplicationFiled: May 23, 2011Publication date: November 24, 2011Applicant: SIEMENS MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS PTE. Patent number: 8024010Abstract: Radio systems for supplying hearing apparatus in events rooms are of a more convenient design. To this end a radio transmission apparatus is provided for transmission of speech signals in an events room. It possesses a receive device for receiving at least one control signal and a switching device for switching the radio transmission apparatus on and/or off depending on the received control signal. In addition a control apparatus is provided for controlling the radio transmission device, with which speech signals are transmitted in an events room. This control apparatus possesses a detection device to detect a presence or a movement of the radio transmission device in the events room and a transmit device for transmitting a control signal to the radio transmission device depending on the detection result of the detection device. Patent number: 7995214Abstract: An apparatus for recording a shape of a section of the human ear is provided. The apparatus has a recording device for recording a spatial shape of a first and a second subsection of the section and for recording a position or a variable representing the position of the first and the second subsection relative to a predetermined optical feature of the section. The apparatus has an evaluation device for obtaining shape information about the section by combination of the shapes of the subsections based on the recorded positions or the variables representing the respective position. This enables a number of individual images to be joined together into a three-dimensional map based on natural features in the auditory canal, such as skin flecks or veins for example.Type: GrantFiled: July 27, 2010Date of Patent: August 9, 2011Assignee: Siemens Medical Instruments Pte. Publication number: 20110188692Abstract: A hearing aid can be inserted deep inside an auditory canal without the risk of injury. The hearing system has a hearing device that can be completely inserted into a human auditory canal, and a positioning device, which is attached to the hearing device in a self-retaining manner. The positioning device can be detached from the hearing device, when the latter is in the state where it is inserted into the auditory canal, and cannot or can only partly be inserted into the auditory canal because it serves as a stop on a section of the concha when the hearing device is being positioned. The positioning device is decoupled from the hearing device after placement and removed from the auditory canal.Type: ApplicationFiled: February 1, 2011Publication date: August 4, 2011Applicant: SIEMENS MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS PTE. Publication number: 20100239126Abstract: An apparatus for measuring a distance to an eardrum has an optical sensor and a signal-processing device. The optical sensor acquires an image of the eardrum and the signal-processing device determines an area or separation extending perpendicular to the spacing distance to be measured in the image and determines the spacing distance to the eardrum as a function of the determined area or separation. A corresponding method includes the steps of acquiring an image of the eardrum, determining an area or separation extending perpendicular to the distance to be measured in the image, and determining the distance as a function of the determined area or separation. A projection image may be projected onto or into a vicinity of the eardrum and then the distance can be determined from the separation between the projection image and the eardrum or the image center of the image.Type: ApplicationFiled: March 23, 2010Publication date: September 23, 2010Applicant: SIEMENS MEDICAL INSTRUMENTS PTE. Patent number: 7783068Abstract: A hearing device has an ear fitting piece, a housing part wearable behind the ear, and an earpiece tube connecting the ear fitting piece and the housing part. The transmission of mechanical vibrations between the ear fitting piece and the housing part via the earpiece tube is prevented by damping elements located in the region of the connection points between the ear fitting piece and the earpiece tube, or between the earpiece tube and the housing part. The damping elements damp mechanical vibrations in the transition region. A damping element that prevents the transmission of mechanical vibrations can also be present on or in the earpiece tube. The feedback tendency in the appertaining hearing device is thereby reduced.Type: GrantFiled: August 4, 2006Date of Patent: August 24, 2010Assignee: Siemens Audiologische Technik GmbHInventors: Harald Klemenz, Uwe Rass, Gerhard Röhrlein, Joseph Sauer, Markus Trautner

Patent number: 7756282Abstract: In a hearing device with multiple microphones, and a signal generation method, the dynamic range of hearing devices is improved by using a combination including a silicon microphone and an electret microphone for the hearing device input. Low frequencies thus can be acquired by the silicon microphone and high frequencies can be acquired by the electret microphone, in order to generate a wide-band hearing device input signal. The fact that a silicon microphone possesses a lower internal noise than a conventional electret microphone at low frequencies is utilized.Type: GrantFiled: March 3, 2005Date of Patent: July 13, 2010Assignee: Siemens Audiologische Technik GmbHInventors: Uwe Rass, Christian Weistenhöfer

Patent number: 7664280Abstract: The operation of a hearing aid (10) or hearing aid system (10, 11) is to be improved. It is proposed here that the acoustic auditory environment in which the hearing aid (10) or hearing aid system (10, 11) is found is analyzed and one of the adjustment functions dependent on the relevant auditory situation is assigned to at least one control element (7; 12-15) as a function of the auditory situation detected in this way. The adjustment possibility of the hearing aid (10) is thereby restricted to the adjustment possibilities which are meaningful to the relevant auditory situation.Type: GrantFiled: May 26, 2005Date of Patent: February 16, 2010Assignee: Siemens Audiologische Technik GmbHInventor: Uwe Rass

Publication number: 20100020997Abstract: The invention relates to a hearing aid with a housing, a receiver disposed outside the housing and a transparent hearing tube to connect the receiver to the housing. At least one electrical line made of transparent, conductive polymer is provided in the hearing tube to connect the receiver electrically to an electronic signal processor disposed in the housing and at least one electrical insulator made of transparent, non-conductive polymer. A number of lines and insulators are advantageously disposed coaxially. The outer line is advantageously grounded. The impedance of the receiver and impedance of an amplifier output stage being part of the electronic signal processor and connected to the at least one line and the surface area of the line are advantageously tailored to one another so that the power transmission of the line is at a maximum. The hearing tube is completely transparent despite the electrical lines provided therein.Type: ApplicationFiled: July 16, 2009Publication date: January 28, 2010Inventor: Uwe Rass
